The Salt Springs Civic Association, Inc. is a chartered not-for-profit corporation who sponsors many worthwhile projects and activities within the Community, and works to keep Salt Springs the desirable place that it has been for many years. We are solely funded through tax deductible donations and membership dues, local business advertisements & signs at the Community Park, and through various fund raising activities throughout the year. Since April 2010, the Association has been working diligently to revive some forgotten local activities, such as the Annual Spring & Fall Festivals and the Christmas Parade. Some new events which have been added include the 'Wings Cook-Off', Christmas in the Park, and the Bi-Annual Community-Wide Yard Sale. As part of our on-going efforts, the Association is working to expand this, the 'Official' Salt Springs website ... working to revamp the old Civic Association Message Board Signs on Hwy 19 & 316 ... have installed & expanded the Community Bulletin Board at the Square (at Hwy 19 & 316), which provides both locals and travelers with information on activities in & around Salt Springs ... and, have begun publication of the 'Salt Springs Community News', a monthly newsletter featuring "local" news and information for residents & visitors in the Community, which is available the first week of each month via dispensers located at numerous local businesses. The Salt Springs Civic Associations' primary focus is working for the betterment of the Community, and assisting local residents in need through our 'Helping Hands' Assistance Program (a group effort in conjunction with local churches, the Marion County Sheriff's Office, Clay Electric, and the local VFW Posts). Additionally, the Association is responsible for maintenance of the Salt Springs Community Park & Sports Center on Hwy 316, which features basketball, football, soccer, tennis, pickleball, volleyball, horseshoes, walking trail, playground, picnic area, bandstand and concession stand... and we have plans for expansion in the near future -- to include additional picnic accommodations, expansion of the walking trail & addition of cardio stop-offs, new roofing on the Community Center & Concession Stand buildings, and more! The Community Park is already an ideal place for residents and visitors to come together -- for fitness, and family fun... and the Association plans to make it even better! Although we have the desire to make things happen, we cannot do it alone... in addition to financial assistance from the Community and our supports, we also need volunteers to work side-by-side with us to accomplish the tasks at hand. If you have a desire to make Salt Springs & Our Park even better, we'd love to have you on our team! Civic Association Membership is open to all individuals, families and businesses/organizations, and we invite you to join us at our monthly meetings as we discuss community concerns and the on-going needs & desires of our local residents, as well as our plans for the future of Salt Springs. Membership is per calendar year and dues are $12 per adult, business or organization... and $6 per youth/junior member (17yrs & under). We also gratefully accept tax-deducible donations of any amount to be used for the up-keep & improvements at our Community Park and for the betterment of our Community, for residents and visitors alike. We thank you, in advance, for your generosity and we look forward to seeing you at our monthly meetings! (Click Here for our meeting schedule) |
