ABOUT US: The Salt Springs Civic Association, Inc. is a chartered not-for-profit corporation who sponsors many worthwhile projects and activities within the community, and works to keep Salt Springs the desirable place that it has been for many years. We are solely funded through membership dues and tax deductible donations, local business advertisements & signs at the Community Park, and through fund raising activities, such as our Annual Chili Cook-Off (held each March at Cactus Jack’s on Hwy 314). Since voting in new Board Members in April 2010, the Association has been working to reconnect with the community and revive some forgotten local activities, such as the Annual Fall Festival and Christmas Parade, and a Spring Festival in 2011. Some new events being added include September-Fest, and a Community Yard Sale (in conjunction with Salt Springs Village). As part of their on-going efforts, the Association has been working to expand this, the 'Official' Salt Springs website ... is working to revamp the old Civic Association Message Board Sign on Hwy 19, which is already back in use ... has installed a new Community Bulletin Board at the Square (at Hwy 19 & 316), which provides both locals and travelers with information on activities in & around Salt Springs and the Ocala National Forest ... and, has developed the 'Salt Springs Community News', a monthly publication available at numerous local businesses, which provides an added communications link for residents & visitors in the community. This Association's primary focus is working for the betterment of the community, and assisting local residents in need through our newly formed 'Helping Hands' Assistance Program (a group effort in conjunction with local churches, the Marion County Sheriff's Office, and the VFW Post in Salt Springs). Additionally, the Association is responsible for maintenance of the community park on Hwy 316, which currently includes basketball, tennis courts, a baseball field, playground, picnic area, and walking trail... and we have plans for expansion in the near future -- to include additional picnic accommodations, a soccer field/area, further expansion of the walking trail, and (possibly) adding a racquet ball court. The Community Park is already an ideal place for residents and visitors to come together -- for fitness, and family fun... and, the Association plans to make it even better! Although the Association has the desire to make things happen, we cannot do it alone... in addition to financial assistance from the community, we also need volunteers to work side-by-side with us to accomplish the tasks at hand. If you have a desire to make Salt Springs even better, we'd love to have you on our team! Civic Association Membership is open to all individuals, families and businesses, and we invite you to join us at our monthly meetings as we discuss community concerns and the on-going needs & desires of our local residents, as well as our plans for the future of Salt Springs. Membership dues are $12, per individual or business/organization, per calendar year. And, we also gratefully accept tax-deducible donations of any amount to be used for the betterment of the community and its residents. ABOUT OUR WEBSITE: This, the 'Official' Salt Springs Website, has been established for the community and visitors alike to provide information on on-going activities and upcoming events, area attractions, a business directory, classified advertisements, local history and information About Us, the Salt Springs Civic Association. There is no charge for listing an event or classified advertisement on this website, we only ask that you be a current member of the Association. As a member of the Civic Association you are eligible to advertise your business on our website. A $60 annual advertisement listing and maintenance fee is charged for each business listed, which includes setup & maintenance of your business listing in our directory. An additional charge may apply for routine and/or excessive updates to the listing. For those businesses/organizations interested in an individual web page, one can be created specifically for you, for an additional fee of $25 annually. Your individual business page would be linked from the business directory and will be tailored to your business (i.e. could contain your restaurants menu, your special sale or featured retail merchandise items, and/or could include discount coupons, etc.). Your page will be designed to compliment your business & encourage new/repeat customers.
