12/30/10 ~ It's a bubblin down to the NEW YEAR 2011, unbelievable..........time flies when you're having fun in Salt Springs!!! With a lot of sadness, Robert called from Macclenny and a very dear friend of all of ours, one who loved Salt Springs, fished and partied here every year for probably the past 30 years or more. He dearly loved and respected Cactus Jack and was here for all cookouts, services to pay respects and honor him for his community work. Gary Fraser died suddenly and unexpectedly yesterday. He was here with friends from Macclenny each year, Gene, Gerold and Joe to fish. Gary leaves his longtime wife and love Myra and three children with several loving grandchildren. He will be greatly missed in both communities. Our prayers to the Fraser family. Well, it's here..........the night before the last night of this year. Say goodbye to 2010 in many ways...........Frontier, Cactus Jack's and VFW all celebrating the old and new with song, food and friends. Many camps having their own cookouts and gatherings from all around. Here Hewey's camp is in town and also heard the "ho train" will be up and running????? hmmm, never a lack for having a good time around here. Diana (Buckskin) had a birthday on Christmas Eve, she wrote about her family's way of including her "birthday gift" with Christmas. She got to pick out anything under the tree........now that's neat!!! Thanks. Happy Birthday to YOU!!! UH, Billy should be ask what Shawn gave you on Christmas eve, your BD too!!! The car wash will be back after the first of the year. What some great prices for a job very well done. Get on down there or call 386-546-9179 when they return. Missing JL and Michelle, well missing that good cookin' They will be up and cookin' again on the 7th. Shan and Tammy will crank up the Wii bowling again on that date. Great fried chicken at Frontier last night, Thanks always to Dorothy for fryin' up those critters. Tonight, get on down to Jack's for Carol's karaoke and special snacks and drinks. AND for those of you who have ever wondered about the real names of BIG AND RICH, I have the answer. Mark one up for ME, hehheh..........Rich IS John Rich BUT Big is Kenny Alphin, alias Big Kenny.......OK OK, thank you very much and I won't race anyone to the redlight!!! It's been quite a year..............good times are good, bad times are remembrances!!! Here's to all.........wishing you a very very happy and prosperous NEW YEAR. Forget those resolutions, they are made to be broken, just do something great for yourself!! Love you all.............. Glad to see Chaaron back in the South, that girl just ain't a snow chick!!!! As soon as you get going after the 1st, start making plans for the 16th Annual Cactus Jack's Chili Cookoff on March 12. Yep, the Hor-mels will try it again!!! 12/17/10 ~ It's a bubblin' up eggnog this time of year!!! and manatees!!! BENEFIT FOR TRISH, THE GREATEST SUCCESS!!! Thanks to all for being a part of this effort, would you believe around $10,000. for Trish. What a giving community, just would not want to be anywhere else in the world. Our thoughts and prayers are with you Trish, we love ya!!!! I hear Bob Henry and Bim Ray really put on the entertainment as they were doing the auction and emceeing..........you go guys!!!!! Again, thanks to everyone involved. It's great to see Chris Meffert back in Salt Springs with us. He looks great and is doing just fine. He and Joyce have been here several days and will go back to Tampa for Christmas. Chris will be having radiation but not chemo, that was a prayer answered in itself. Barbara Baby will be having her birthday Sunday at the "v", isn't she just cute??? Another year younger........be there around 5:00. Garland Huffman is the new canteen manager!!!!!! I knew he couldn't stay away from Salt Springs very long, right back where he should be, with all of us!!! Congratulations, Garland, know you'll do a good job. SUNDAY Christmas Party at the "V" from 1-3, bring $10.00 gift that can go either way.........well, you know what I mean. We'll be doing the Chinese exchange!!!! Happy Hour drink prices too. VFW will be open Christmas day for folks looking for a merry atmosphere!!! Jordan King and guest musicians will be playing at 6:00. Don't forget to get those reservations in at Cactus Jack's for the gala New Year's event complete with appetizers and complete country breakfast at midnight, with champagne!!! $8. person, $15. couple. Night Shift for our entertainment. Frontier is inviting everyone down for the weekend on New Year's with free camping and cookin up something around there. Southern Rukus will be playing the songs. Hear Eddie D and Lura will be here for this. A weekend to celebrate another new year!!! VFW also hosting New Year's party, get on down there and sign up. Jim and Carol will be playing the tunes there!!! Whew............... Men's Aux. doing Spaghetti dinners Sunday.............Jack's always has home cooked meals on Sunday as well as sandwiches and pizza anytime. Frontier has Wilderness Restaurant still dishing out something good off their menu. Remember, contest going on at Buck n Bass, register your deer and register to win...... ALSO get a free hamburger from Cindy at Square Meal........now that's some hamburger for the price anyday. Good job all of YOU. Heard Santa was at Bass Champions, I missed that one. They still have early bird specials and much more going on there. Now THAT food is always good no matter who you are!!! Ladie's did another fantastic job with Children's Christmas Party at the "v"..........kudos once again to you. Loretta hope to see you soon!!!! I see through my little magic window that Van, Dwight, Sonny Pellum, Debbie Mathis, Barb Cato, Bill Motes, Tammy (Wii), & Roy Franks all have birthdays??? Wow, what a good lookin' group.........well most anyway!! Went to see Blue Man show at Universal.......it was someone's BD so that was the treat!!! Now that is something to see, how they can make so much music with PVC is beyond me!!!! Hint, if you go I'd go for the FOURTH ROW, uh Rows 1-2-3 have to wear ponchos!!! Naturally, that's where our seats were...........duh, said poncho but who would have thought!!! Everyone is getting ready for Christmas with all the lights, merriment, activities and it's all lookin' beautiful. Hope everyone is planning a wonderful day and remembering the time that it is!!!! 12/08/10 ~ BBBrrrrrrr............... is it still a bubblin????? Of course, nothing slows down around here!!! Manatees are BACK!! Talked with Joyce and Chris. They are in Tampa and Chris is doing great!! Should be here tonight or tomorrow for a couple of days but will be in and out (here and Tampa) for the next couple of months. Chris will have radiation Jan and Feb. Our thoughts and love to both of them. Congrats to our local Sr. Cougar Cheerleading team out of Ft McCoy Middle School. They have won the Marion County Youth Football League Cheer Leading Competition this year, that makes it 3 years in a row now. Local Salt Springs cheerleaders on the team are Dawn Littleton, Jessica Kelly, Maggie Page, Lacey Risley, Haley Robinson and Courtney Tavares. Look for them in the Ocala Christmas parade on Dec. 11th. The Sr. Cougar Football team also had a fantastic season ending with a 2 game winning streak. Thanks to coaches, Jimmy and Pam Littleton who have been volunteering coaching these young athletes the past 8 years. Special thanks to our local sponsors Bass Champions and Advantage Real Estate - and to all those that helped out the team throughout the season, Square Meal, Ice House, MRS Air Assocaties, Salt Springs Civic Association, Elite Resorts, David Burkhalter and the cooking gang and all who supported us through the very successful Fundraiser in the spring. 12/03/10 ~ BBBbbbbrrrrrrrrr.................. oops, not complaining........... spring is still just a bubblin'!!!! So sorry that I didn't get the message earlier about Emergency Blood Drive this week BUT there will be another to benefit our Veterans and Shands Hosp. in January. Tune in for that!!! GLORIA AND ROGER ARE BACK, yippee, so good to see them and all that are returning to SS group!!! Loretta came through her back surgery well and is now home recuperating......... slowly and take it SLOW like the doctor said!!! The Childrens' Christmas party will be Dec. 11. Santa is rounding up the reindeer as we speak to be there!!! Pass the word to the kids. Dec. 11 at 11:00, complete with lunch, crafts and PRESENTS........... wahoo!!! The ladies need HELP this year so get on down there and volunteer. This is one of MY favorite activities each year. TOMORROW 1:00 in the Community Park (316) will be Christmas in the Park to kick off the Holiday Season. Food, music, mini parade and SANTA, he's sneaking in this weekend. A day to enjoy. FREE holiday activities for all. TOMORROW at Cactus Jack's will be a BENEFIT for Austin Kelley (Alice's 22 yr old son). He had a horrific motorcycle accident on I-75. Austin is currently in need of extensive rehabilitation and this benefit will raise funds to help his young family and 1 yr. old daughter, Kylie. Barbeque dinners, 50/50 raffle, large cash awards, Wii games, Digital Camera, Ipod.................. much much more. Lots of opportunities to Win something BIG. Support this cause with us. 11/30/10 ~ Yep, bubblin upsidedown this week............ RAIN, finally!!!!! First.........talked with Joyce this morning. Chris came through surgery well at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa. They want everyone to know how much our thoughts and prayers have meant to them........ get well soon Chris and hurry home to Salt Springs!!! We miss you two!!! Hearing all great Thanksgiving stories, now onto Christmas!!! I had good week with my Friends Jack, Gina and Lisa at Gainesville Motorcross Races........ all week. We did get our "turkey" dinner catered in thanks to Red Bull sponsors( Yep, JL and Michelle, Red Bull)..that was a no brainer, sit down and eat and enjoy!!!! Those cuban sandwiches are as popular there as here on Cactus Jack's night........let you know when they do again!!! Oh and I shared my special apple pie with friends, thanks to Dave and Toni!!!! Mmmm, is that stuff ever good???? This weekend will be a FREE Holiday in the Park at 1:00......... food, music, refreshments and SANTA!!! Oh yeah, need to get down there to convince him how good we've been this year There will be mini parade in the park area. Great night at Jack's last night celebrating Gywnn's ?? birthday!!! 11/21/10 ~ And it's bubblin again............... I actually see little smiley faces in spring bubbles Can you believe it's Thanksgiving, oh my!!!! This year is bubblin' by us!!! Hope everyone is planning a great day........... I'll be having Thanksgiving cuban sandwich, well there's no written rule you HAVE to eat turkey!!!! Save a turkey, eat a cuban (sandwich) Happy Birthday to our friend Larry and our love and prayers with Margie. She was taken to hosp. yesterday with congestive heart failure. Doing well today........... that's our girl!!! Got to get that wind back to sing................. we love you both, much!!!! ALSO, deer hunters, remember you get free hamburger from Square Meal with each deer checked in. And checked in, hey, don't forget Advantage Sports and Jim is sitting there waiting on ya!! He's been in same location for 16 years, get er registered............ eat that hamburger too. 11/19/10 ~ And it's sure BUBBLIN' this week............ OK OK, now I know how it is to get "out of the loop", just glad it's easy to jump back in!!!! Our love to Loretta who finally had back surgery, now it's time to get better!!! Trish (88 Store) is home and will continue treatments. On Dec. 11, the 88 Store will host a fundraiser for Trish complete with food, music, auction, 50/50 tickets and more. Get in there and help out with this. Can leave auction items at store!!! We love you Trish!!! Our Mustang football team made it to the Conf. Championship. They may have placed 2nd but they are lst to Salt Springs. Caleb Seiler and Josh McBride were chosen for the All Star Team to play in Dec. Other SS players were Branden Carbahal, Shaun Gibbs and Phil Baer. Thanks to Hoss (Coach) for this info......... Great job, guys!!! Great turnout for our local Tea Party, thanks to all who braved the weather, all were inspired by KrisAnne Hall's true story........ sometimes we wonder how the system fails pitifully!!! 11/15/10 ~ OK OK, so I left town but the spring continued to boil............... so I hear!! On another "working" vacation at Disney!!! Worked the "Caddy Shack", remember the movie, for the Childrens' Miracle Network all week with PGA golf. This caddy shack is equipped and moves all over the country. Has dining area, kitchen and slideouts....what an operation!!! Met the caddies and players with families and reps this week!! One of my newfound friends, Robert Garrigus and his caddy, Shoe, won.......... uh, about half million!!! Robert's family came in every day as did Shoe and dad Shoe. Another experience I must say......... but oh, did I also say I had to get up every morning by 4:00 YES that would be AM. Know how it feels to be out of loop............. TONIGHT IS CIVIC ASSOC. MEETING AT 7:00, remember if you have names for Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets, please let the Ladie's Aux and Civic Assoc. know. Thanks to the Men's Aux. for the $200.00 donation to the Honor Flight for me......... you guys are the BEST!!!! Our thoughts and prayers are with Loretta who is having surgery, Trish, home from hospital after chemo, Blondy's brother took a terrible fall. Love to all of you and your families!!!!! Our special guest speaker has conducted various interviews, and appeared on several television programs, including "Your World with Neil Cavuto", and has an extraordinary story to tell. Former Florida assistant attorney, KrisAnn Hall, was fired from her job by Jacksonville State Attorney Skip Jarvis for speaking at a tax rally and offering her opinion on the health care reform bill at her local radio station. KrisAnn, a constitutional attorney, wife, and mother of two, dared to question the constitutionality of the presidents health reform bill and paid a steep price. According to Mrs. Hall.... "At the end of January I was asked by the Chairman of the Suwannee REC to help review a Constitutional primer he was to give to voters in Dowling Park, Florida due to my background with a Constitutional Law firm in Seminole, Florida. I was then asked by the Suwannee County Republican Executive Committee to give a presentation of my own on the Constitution. I gave a presentation on Originalism. 11/07/10 ~ BRRRRRR, but not complaining.......... Springs will boil right through winter!!! What a wonderful Prehunt Cookout at Cactus Jack's Sat.................. thanks to Lynn........ her family....... all the ones that worked to make it successful. Bless those bartenders, what patience!!! It was a beautiful day for it and Salt Run did their magic playing music for us. If you weren't there, there is no way to explain the day!!!! It was a good one!!! I'm sure Cactus Jack was smilin' down on this one!!! Life is good to us. Great seeing the Bunnell camp, the Lake Wales group and, of course, Trent and Joann!!! Then we had Carol doing the Karoake at the "v", we enjoy her being with us again!!! Met a new friend, Mike. Hope to see him a lot around the V, he's enjoying his stay in Salt Springs, imagine that?? Marie's retirement party was a great success. Everyone came out to congratulate her and Brent did a fabulous job on the food and preparations!! Nov. 11, Veterans' Day, Salt Springs Village will be dedicating their new flagpole at the entrance. That would be ll/ll at ll:00 am. This night, Thurs., will be meeting and special presentation about Honor Flight at the VFW - 7 PM Nov. 13, Sat., will be a COMMUNITY YARD SALE, all over the place............ 11/04/10 ~ As the spring boils, changes are in the air and it's raining, oh yes!! Listen up................. The Fall Festival at Bass Champions will be changing dates. They will advise a later date. NO festival this weekend at Bass Champs BUT Prehunt Cookout at Cactus Jack's will be the big friends gathering and food food food. Appetizers on at noon............ big food later around 2:00. Salt Run will be entertaining us and they do a fine job of THAT. Thanks to Lynn for all this, it will be great day. THIS SAT, the 6th!!! Brent is giving Marie a BIG retirement party 4-8 at Village Clubhouse, don't forget, just get there and bring only your little selves Brent says!!! 10/31/10 ~ OUR HEARTFELT LOVE AND PRAYERS ARE WITH PHIL AND LYNN. THEIR MOM PASSED AWAY YESTERDAY MORNING WITH HOSPICE CARE IN OCALA. ARRANGEMENTS WILL BE MADE AT A LATER DATE. HER WISHES WERE TO RETURN TO LAKE WALES AND A SERVICE WILL BE THERE. ANY MORE INFORMATION, I WILL SEND OUT. WE LOVE YOU BOTH!!!!!!

10/27/10 ~ And is it ever boilin'............... 90 degrees??? What's up with fall???? Our thoughts and prayers are with Lynn and Phil's family as their mom remains critical in the hospital. We are thinking of your family at this time. So much exciting news!!! Wayne and Joann Crawford and I leave in the morning as escorts with World War II veterans. We will fly to Washington, DC for them to view the World War II memorial that was completed in 2004. It will be an all day and I'm sure quite emotional trip!! Honor Flight with VFW sponsors this in Ocala. There will be 102 WWII Veterans on board. The trip each year is sponsored by different organizations and individuals through donations only. How rewarding can this be?? We will certainly report back. Mr. Harrison, 82, called to see if I wanted to ride with him to airport............... don't think he realizes where we are. Think I'd better just meet him at airport, that was too cute though!!! If you haven't tried the car detailing, get down there. He's located in parking lot of Square Meal, the RV. Reasonable and very very good!!!! We have new business in town ALL IN ONE PEST CONTROL, Lawn spraying, landscaping, Real Estate inspection.......... Well, my Durango is having surgery on the big booboo that no one can actually figure out.......... do you believe in aliens??? hmmm!!! Joe, Joannie, Shan, John P and more!!! It takes about an hour to go through and there will be snacks for your enjoyment. FRIDAY NIGHT TEA PARTY 6:30 at the VFW Stage, under the lights so bring your chair and get comfy!!! Mike Yost (running against Corrine Brown, yes) will be there. I know Zalak and King for Co. Commissioner are planning to attend. Great time to ask questions before the election on Tues. So far the concensus I'm hearing is questionable on 1, help me out, YES on 2.... NO on 4....... YES on 5 and 6 and NO on 8!!!! YES on Balancing the Federal Budget. As I say, this is what I'm hearing and discussing with different factions!!! 10/15/10 ~ Ooh yeah, cooler weather but the springs is still a boilin' OK OK, got me again................ this weekend will be Night Shift at Cactus Jack's, yep good ole rock n roll. Last night, Karaoke night was packed with singing or trying to sing (that's me), pool playing, darts and special Cactus Jack drinks. Good Job, Cactus Lynn!!!!! Terry called from "The Wilderness Restaurant" located IN the Frontier. They have got some great specials goin' on there. Tonight AUCE Catfish!!! Mondays AUCE Shrimp!!!! They have quite a menu goin' on out there........... bunches of appetizers too. OPEN Every day (except Weds) from 11:00-9:00. 10/14/10 ~ Yep, them up north people are just bubblin' in............. so glad to see each and every one!!! Our heartfelt sympathy to Wayne Crawford and family. His daughter passed away. We are all so so sorry to hear this. Prayers and thoughts to Cactus Lynn's mom who is back in hospital and to Dorothy's mom that had an emergency visit to hospital this week. You ladies, we are thinking of you............. GET YOURSELVES WELL!!!! Hey, it was a Dave / Toni apple pie delight sighting!!! Welcome home!! And Don made it back to attend tonight's TEA PARTY!!! TONIGHT..................... TEA PARTY AT THE CIVIC ASSOCIATION BLDG. on 316 by Sheriff's substation and park. 6:30......... think this is going to be interesting, we hear about them but wow, to get to attend one. Gary and Charlene went to the BIG one in Washington recently. You can't make changes unless you are willing to participate, be informed and VOTE!!! 10/08/10 ~ I know everyone is holdin' down the fort in my absence!!! Bubble on, Friends!!! Our hearts are broken for Joannie Massey. Her only sister, Joyce, died unexpectedly during surgery Monday. Send the Salt Springs prayers and thoughts............... we love you Joannie!!! Bob and Joan Howell have been fishin' the Outer Banks and now on their way back to Shan-gri-la........... well, Salt Springs. They'll be here by the 11th. OH boy, come on down, gonna try to beat YOU to all the fun spots!!!! Have to leave early to get ahead of you two. SUNDAY AT THE VFW............... Open Jam honoring the Veterans from Retirement Home. Get out your instrument and get down there!!!! 2:00!!! The Honor Flight out of Knoxville, Tenn. is also planned for the World War II Vets, I am excited to be involved in the one from Ocala on October 28!!! There's not enough we can do for our veterans!!! NEWS NEWS The WILDERNESS RESTAURANT opens TODAY in the Frontier!! They will be doing lunch and dinner every day except Wednesdays!!!! 11 am til 9:00 PM. We wish them GOOD LUCK!!!! 10/05/10 ~ And Yep, it's a bubblin' brew this week!!!! This is the greatest of all on the Spring Boils.......... this week we received an email from Kuwait, oh yeah, that's right, they want to keep up with Salt Springs!!! Ryan Morrill (Rick and Cathy's son in law) is on his way to Iraq but wants us to know he appreciates the "news" from our way!!! You go, Ryan............. our hero!!! Joan and Ken are just wishing they were on the way with Sandy and Bob BUT they will be here by December. Weather report from Minnesota........ FROST!!! And that's why we are not there!!! TEA PARTY comin' right along. It will be Thurs. 14th at 6:30 at the Civic Asso. Bldg. on 316. Be there!! There are people driving a long way for this, like Don Whitwood!!!! Come on down.......... we'll be there. Enjoyed my Sunday working with Jack and Gina makin' them Cuban Sandwiches, yum yum. They will be doing cubans at Cactus Jack's this Thurs, that would be the 7th.......... you can sing with Carol and Eat too. Went by my favorite pharmacy, Grandmas, in Ft. McCoy and lo and behold, right there on the curb were nurses doing blood pressure, sugar, and heart rates and and.......... uh I forgot something else for free, sure it wasn't testing memory though. They were great......... they are with Home Health Care and will come to Salt Springs any time you need them. Whatever we can do to support this we should!!! Every 3 minutes someone is diagnosed with breast cancer........... there are 2 1/2 million survivors!!! Early diagnosis is a key factor!!! I have signed up to help with the Honor Flight out of Ocala. This is such an interesting endeavor!!! They are taking World War II vets to Washington to view the World War II memorial that was completed in 2004. Wow................ I love to be involved with this to honor my dad, who was a World War II vet and to represent our VFW here in SS!!! Have been signed up as an escort........ what an honor that would be!!! Our thoughts and prayers are with Alice Drake's family and hoping for the recovery of her son. He was involved in a motorcycle accident and remains in critical condition. His grandmother, Louise, also lives in SS. What a beautiful week around here, little cooler but sun still shinin' on us!!! Southern Rukus returns to Frontier this weekend. Guess this is the Fish Fry weekend for VFW and Cactus Lynn always has fun and drink specials planned at Cactus Jack's. Mom and I will be motorin' north to the mountains this week.............. already had snow on Mt. LeConte around Gatlinburg!!! Can't wait to see that!!! Gwynn and family going to visit Elvis......... well, maybe Memphis!!! Joann gettin' ready to go to see mom in PA and Bob and Bobbie going up to mountains too!!! What can we say, another beautiful week in Salt Springs, if you are here, good for you, if not, sorry about your luck!!! Get here!!! I met some of you on Boils that know Scallan, the crawfish man from Macclenny, well, go to Branch and Dean, youtube or facebook and listen to his son's newly cut record in Nashville. Both guys are from Macclenny and former students, see I did something but it wasn't teaching them to sing..... maybe just teaching words!!! Listen up for "Your Ol' Ladys Gone". Commissioner Fitos was at our Civic Assoc., hope you got to talk to her. She's been a great support to Salt Springs. John R. wrote to say "cancer free" he is!!! That is wonderful, now I expect to see he and Jeannie out and about with us. The Schultz girls were featured in the Umatilla Outpost. The four sisters were raised there and their grandfather was the longest term Chief of Police ever, Tob Collins. Today in Gainesville the local East Marion Mustang football team will be playing Hastings. We have three local boys on the team......... Caleb Seiler, Josh McBride and Chris Gibson. 09/15/10 ~ Bubble bubble, shrimpin' n crabbin', time to get out there!!! First of all, our thanks to the Civic Association for the September Festival last Sunday. What a great job they did....... something for everyone!!! We talk about our talented people in Salt Springs!!! Have you ever ordered a homemade decorated cake from Jackie Doss at the "V". Oh my, what a treat........ you name the flavor, you name the decor and SHE can do it. 685-8607 Then we have Shirley Poock from Braxton's!!! She does handmade memory quilts. I just picked up six for a friend, what a story it tells of that person's life with all the squares with their clothes. WOW!!! What talent, well, she did a Harley cover recently from Crown Royal bottle covers!!! Most anything can be done right here!! Loretta, miss you at the "v". Hope you are feeling better!!! Rosie, you are doing a FANTASTIC JOB in the canteen, thank you!!! Kay, miss you too but hear you are busy with grandkids now in NC!!! And Chrissy/Norm, where r u?? Still in Nova Scotia, looking forward to seeing all our northern friends return soon. Vic and Don will be visiting their place in Village soon from Japan!!! The Village People keep up around here, they are everywhere, always glad to see them!!! Seems Trish beat Gino to the 600 club!!! He's not far behind. 600, means you get perfect score back to back. pfff, I'm not even at 300!!! Tonight, back to Frontier for chickin and playin!!! Playin' the tunes, Bo and Rob on stage while we Wii bowl. This is a great night, come on out!! Bo's band UNTAMED SPIRIT will be at the Frontier this weekend, that's worth the ride to listen to. 09/10/10 ~ Looks like another Salt Springs weekend bubblin' in As if life couldn't be better, it does!!! What a lineup for the weekend!!! Mmm as Zac Brown (or Bo and Rob) would say "Life is Good"!!!! Bo Griner and Rob on keyboard are awesome on Weds. nights. Sometimes we don't just stop to "smell the roses", well, or listen to the tunes!!!!! Thank you, guys!!! Girls Night Out at Palatka Moose Lodge......... my goodness, have ya been there??? It's huge!!! Met up with our Palatka buddies Cheryl and Jim, Anna and Jerry as well as some Macclenny friends. All will be out this way Saturday night, that would be tomorrow, at the FRONTIER for "mama's" 88th birthday, yes, mama Thomas will be there and guess who else Dana??? Sally, got cha!! Southern Rukus tonight and tomorrow night, FRONTIER, gonna be a rockin' good time. Thanks to Cactus Lynn for giving Gary and Mary a happy farewell to friends. 08/31/10 ~ Bubblin' up for one fun Labor Day weekend!!!!! What a fantastic party Grayson gave his mom, Alice. She had a laughin', dancin' great day with surprise family members. Little Gray flew in from Hawaii......... they had us all in happy tears over this one. She's one peppy chick at 90!!!! Well, no need to say but IT'S TACO TUESDAY, OK, so you knew. Ah, how about chicken wing Weds. now!!! Something new at the "V", don't we love them??? This weekend is just jam packed with fun!!! Sugar Bear back at Jack's. Labor Day PARTY and FISH FRY....... 2:00 SAT. 4th. Our faves, the good lookin' Salt Run will be strumming the bluegrass tunes for the afternoon, yee ha!!! Cactus Lynn has some great new drinks and really some good specials goin' on. Get on down there!!! Tomorrow night will be a real treat, the "Custers" are going to be at the Frontier!!! This is helping our entire community and we get to EAT again!!! There is a concern about horses that have been let loose in the forest. Good Morning Friends! There is an effort going on the retrieve horses that have been turned loose in the Forest. If you have seen them or know of their general location please send an email to Sheila1854@aol.com. As you know, horses cannot survive in the forest for very long. So if you have any information let me know or you may call The Horse Rescue Service at 352-466-4366. Thanks. This is going to take a big effort to locate them all and get help for them. Jesse is still being held hostage in the hospital, but I'm sure he's got the nurses smilin'................. Today at Gym Joann and I met Karen, our very own massage therapist right here at the gym. This gym is awesome, by the way!!!! Jesse stayed in the rehab facility where they worked out his meds and treatment, he'd love to hear from you. He'll be there til 16th or maybe 20th of Sept. 407-644-4136 Dave and Toni write from Iowa, they are fermenting apples as we speak for our favorite "dessert"!!! MMMmmm The Macclenny boys were back in town, Gene and Paul, catching those fish. Love staying in cabin behind Bass Champs!!! Lorraine is having Scentsy Open House this Sunday 2-4:00 at her place in the Village 25260 NE 136th Lane, 685-8674. If you haven't seen these you'd better get over there, anything scentsy has to be good!!!! It's great to have so many wonderful people and businesses right here in downtown Salt Springs....... we have it all and aren't we lucky???? Hope to see everyone out and about. Remember Lynn's gearing up for Labor Day party and food at Jack's on the 4th. 08/24/10 ~ This week it's really bubblin', so much to do, so little time............. keep up!!! What a weekend........... group went to Daytona Beach to hear our own Girlz n Guitarz play at Boot Hill Saloon, uh yes Lavonne that would be a biker bar, next time you may have to wear chaps!!! heh, heh Went to Lake Griffin over the weekend and met new friends, wow, imagine that I would do something like that??? Anyway, met Nan who could actually have her own reality show.......... she's like a whirlwind, got it ALL together. For someone that's stays as confused as I do, THAT was impressive!!! Jesse moved back to hospital BUT that's a good thing, worked out well for him with change in meds and insurance!!! Good for you, Jesse, miss ya!!! Say "happy birthday" to Marlin. Had "surprise" party at Frontier and then on down to Cactus Jack's.... think he was 37??? I never was good at math, ya know!! Always remember, if you are missin' out on "Spring Boils", let me know. Sometimes you just get beamed up......... maybe "trekkie's" are still working out there!! Today is Primary Election, get out there and voice your opinion....... 08/19/10 ~ You know, if it didn't bubble on it's own, it sure would be boiling under this sun, whew!!!! Did we complain when it was cold????? Jesse we do miss you around here but just think you'll be back dancin' around in no time. Tonight's partytime events................. SUGAR BEAR, my favorite at Jack's................. Dam Band at Frontier and Karoake with Billy at the "v"................. sittin' on the porch at the '88 or riding out to see Jack and Annie at the Pig Pen. Ah, so much to do so start now!!!! They were in Yellowstone Park and can't wait to get back to tell us all about it. What a couple........ I want to be them!!!!!! Oh My, what a week. Thurs. don't miss those pizzas, a must try treat, HawaiianPizza!!!! aloha Great weekend again, and well of course, we ARE in Salt Springs. Our favorite band Southern Rukus up at Frontier had em packed in there last night. Lots of new faces!!! Even Frontier "Mama" was up and dancin' her little toes off!!! It was great to see John R and Jeannie out and about, we are all there for ya and you know that!! I don't know about this one BUT hear Dollar Store is on the way????? Pit Stop doin' great job with Subway inside, thanks to you guys!!! And don't ever forget that chicken in Braxton's and Mar a grillin' at the 88!!!! 07/20/10 ~ Yep, and it is a boilin'.................. little rain would be nice!!! Great Salt Springs weekend, as usual!! Now aren't we just the lucky ones to be here??? Our Congratulations to Jack and Paulina, that would be Mr. and Mrs. now!!! Had a wonderful time toasting their happiness at Cactus Jack's and Lynn had it all prettied up for them!!!! Thanks to JL and Michelle and Bass Champions for a wonderful day Sunday. They do this to show their appreciation for the community but guess what.... WE appreciate THEM!!!! Tonight Jordy will be playing lead guitar with Silver Eagle Band at the Midnight Rodeo in Ocala from 8 til 10:00. Way to go, Jordy!!! One day, any day now, we are going to see him under the big lights!!!! Tomorrow, Wednesday, something new at the "V"!!! 07/15/10 ~ This week it's a churnin' and bubblin' around here!!!! So much goin' on this week, hang onto your hats!!!! FIRST........ last weekend!!! Many of us motored down to Inverness Raceway to watch Jared Snowden..... JL and Michelle's son (Bass Champs) WOW, what fun watching those speedy cars on that track!! Jared had his own SS cheering section while he was racin' around his new car!!!! Go Jared, Go No. 4!!! He's good!!! This SUNDAY JL and Michelle are hosting their second annual Customer Appreciation Day and Kids' Fishin' Tournament!!! Buck n Bass helping out with kids fishin". Kids grab your poles and get down there at 11:00 til 2:00........... prizes, prizes!!! BIG water slide will be there, bands in the afternoon (bring chairs people) and FOOD for all us, yum yum!!!! Come on down and enjoy......... thank you JL and Michelle Whoa, did you see where Salt Springs Campground was rated in the TOP 100 family campgrounds in America!!! Way to go SS!!! Way to go Ocala Nat'l Forest!!! We know we ARE the best, glad the world recognizes it!! Food still a cookin' at the "v". 07/08/10 ~ What at 4th in Salt Springs!!!! Even "visitors" commented on the spectacular fireworks.......... great job everyone!!!! Jesse continues to improve at home..................... we are so glad to hear this. Take it easy!!!!! Great cookout at Jack's Sat., now back to that line dancin' girls and always good eats on Thurs. OH OH, the biggest news SUBWAY IS OPEN!!! Yes and it is ever so good!!! Pretty soon a bank branch, hey, gas, food, drink and money ALL at the same place, cool beans I say!! Last night was the most delicious food at Frontier, homemade veggie casseroles, desserts with Dorothy's famous friend chicken. Sat around to eat and play cards!!! While there Robin got a call that her son was in an accident with his wife and 3 month old baby. Send prayers and thoughts for their recovery. Get ready for July 18 Kids' Fishin' Tournament and appreciation day of fun at Bass Champions!!! Oh Jared running at Inverness Track this weekend.............. go Jared!!! Shirley (at gro. store) is working on more "memory quilts". These quilts are beautiful and such a memorial to that someone in our life we love and miss but can hold onto a part of them with these!!!! Cora does the embroidery for the center square. Have to see to believe!!! Kay's getting ready to leave and vacation in the mountains with family and on up north for a couple of weeks. 07/02/10 ~ Bubblin' RED, WHITE, AND BLUE ...all through Salt Springs! WOW, LOTS-n-LOTS OF INFO FOR THE WEEKEND AND UPCOMING TIMES TOO!!! Jesse is HOME, yes at his place right here in Salt Springs Village and doing well, of course we knew he would. Has a lot of recoup time and healing ahead but everything went well and he's on top of the world again, like he stays!! Great going Jesse. It was a really invasive, large incision, serious surgery and he will be at home tending to himself for a while. Let him know ya love 'em!!! Still sending those prayers for complete recovery too and we will see him dancing again. Joanne Crawford from the "v" has a grandaughter in Afghanistan. The Ladie's Aux. has been so good to gather and send things over to our troops, the guys and gals we adore and honor. Joanne asked what we could do for her and members of her squadron........... guess what, simple!!! LETTERS, POSTCARDS, MAIL, CARDS............. Some messages from US!!! Read letter below from Ladie's.................. YOU ARE THE BEST!!! The Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW Post 10208 in Salt Springs has been supplying goodies and needed supplies to troops in Afghanistan this past year. We now have a second member with a grandchild over there and her platoon is requesting letters from home. Many troops do not have family at home or for other reasons no contact from home. Many just want to hear what is going on in your life - and life back home here in the states - and most importantly they would like to hear and know they have our support. We are asking everyone to take a few minutes and sit down and write a letter to a troop. Letters can be dropped off at the Post and we will mail them in bulk to Afghanistan. And speaking of the BEST, WOW, the VFW is taking on new look per Rosie, tables moved around OH NO, whatever will we do finding our assigned seats NOW!!! 06/28/10 ~ Whew, what a wonderful weekend AGAIN and now gear up for the 4th!!!! First of all, Liz Highsmith wants to thank everyone for their prayers, thoughts, presence, contributions and support through this difficult time in her life. Moms should never have to lose their children but it's a wonderful thought to know that Mom was there!! Salt Springs is certainly "filling up" with vacationers. It's wonderful to talk with some and hear how they enjoy "our little place" as we do. It's also good to know that children still enjoy the Forest Camp sponsored by Nat'l Forest on 314, what a treat that is for kids!!! Tonight at the "v", hotdogs and little par-tee with Glenda as outgoing Manager in the Canteen. SURPRISE BY THE WAY!!! Can bring a little snackie, if you like to share with everyone too!!! PARTY, OH MY!!! Saturday night was a great surprise for Dan Dickey and Ron Baker. A great time was surely had by all!!! Music, food, friends, it was all there, what a happy time just for their birthday!!!! Ron's actual birthday is July 1st, by the way and Dan's was Sat. the 26th This week makes them official members of the "old farts" . We may age but this group won't be OLD!!! JULY 3........................ 4th of July Party at Cactus Jack's. Appetizers going out around noon..................... music and fun all day. 06/21/10 ~ bubblin and gurglin............as always Ah, new week and summer is officially ON!!!! Hear the crabs are swimmin' in the run along with some good fishin' Seems everyone's kids and grans are all back in their normal environment, that would be their own homes!!! Loved seeing Chris, Joann's son from New Orleans, and another place for us to visit now!!! TONIGHT: CIVIC ASSOCIATION MEETING @ 7:00 in the "old" building, lots of renovations going on there!!!! Lots of new stuff around the "v", when I figure it out I'll certainly tell all of you!!! Good to have some new things in life, keeps us on our toes!!! PUPPIES, oh yes and soo soo cute!!! My great guy, Rufus, has three puppies ready for a good home. He has a registered Australian Shepherd that decided to "party down" one dark and lonely night with a neighboring bulldog, and yep, guess where that got her??? One boy, brendle, one girl tri- colored and another girl black with white socks, roly poly happy little pups.........please say you need one!!!! Now would be great!!!! 06/15/10 ~ It was wonderful to see all the Flags flyin' yesterday!!!!!! What a tribute to our great Country..... you know this started way before our time, thank goodness, in 1777, then Pres. Wilson officially said, oh yes great idea in 1916 and again an official approval for the US by Congress in 1949!!!! Most beautiful Flag in the world! Kind of a restful hot week in SS. Too hot but that's why we are HERE!!!! 06/09/10 ~ Today, June 9th........... please keep in your memory our two good friends RL and Ken Chauncey, this is their birthday in Heaven!! Our good friend, Liz, lost her son to cancer. Summer arrived, ya think, whew We will not complain as I remember when it was cold and we said the same thing in an opposite way, got that??? Jesse continues to check in and is doing GREAT!!! We, of course, expected no less!!! What a fantastic weekend!!! Benefit for our good friend Terri was successful at the 88 Store. Thanks to all for being there, contributing or whatever you did!!! Terri is doing really good, keep it up, girl!! We love ya. Thanks to Tim White, Vicky and players/singers!!! Mar, chicken was killer good!! And what a send off to Jim Beeler, ha, send off??? You couldn't chase him out of town BUT thanks Jim for all your years as Commander at the VFW. We DO appreciate YOU. That food was scrumptious......... our cookers could do their own SS Cookin Show!!!! Thank you Jackie and ladies, thanks guys for cookin and Joe and Joannie, mmm mmm good potato salad!!! 06/03/10 ~ whew, after this wonderful weekend, we are a boilin'!! Great to have all those people in town spending their money with US!!! It's amazing how "uptown" we got in just a couple of weeks!!! TWO two gas stations (with diesel) up and running!!!! Way to go SS!! Hear the fish are still bitin' in the run, ran into some guys from Macclenny who have been out there gettin' em!!!!! Great chick by Connie (in Dorothy's absence) and it was good good good!!! Some great bowling last night!!! Frontier every Weds. Southern Rukus comin in this weekend!!! This afternoon, get those "boot scootin" shoes on for line dancin' at Jack's........ always with bites to munch on, thanks Lynne. And Sundays at 4:00, listen the sounds of Larry McKenzie............ lazy crazy daze of summer are on!!! Tonight the "pickn and grinnin'" will be at 88..."Salt Run" pickers too. Come on over!! AND Saturday at the 88 will be a benefit for our friend and fellow guitar pickin girl, Terri. Her surgery went well, she's just a little under the weather but soon to be back to her perky self!!! Love ya Terri. See ya all there. Terri plays with Guitarz and Girlz (Vicki). Food, music, 50/50, friends and just plain ole great SS gathering. Annie keeps us up on the Pig Pen...darts on Weds. at 6.......... pickin/grinnin Thurs at 7 and food, food, food EVERY Sat night, can't beat that one!!! Get out there and see Jack and Annie!!! 06/01/10 ~ OOOhhhhhhh baby baby baby.............. no that's not a song I'm practicing!!!!! We have a BABY, Jena Brooke bounced into our world today at 2:30 PM at a whopping 7 lb. 3 oz. Mom, Sandi and baby doing great, don't know about Pat but she sounded OK too, all that excitement was just bubblin out!!! Jesse has reported in.............. surgery on Sunday went very well, as planned!!! Great news!!! He will be in Orlando hosp. and rehab. for a while and then just dancin' back to Salt Springs. We're thinking of you. SURPRISE SURPRISE (I can just see Gomer Pyle doin that!!) This Sunday at 1:00 a surprise party for Jim Beeler......... you know he's been the headcheese for like 8 years, that's a good reason to give him a boost out with a par-tee!!!!! Don't tell, shhhhh. Also, Cactus Lynne has birthday comin' up and we gotta get on down there to celebrate, let ya know!!! In the meantime, MUSIC on Sunday afternoon 4:00......... great afternoon time to chillout and listen to "Larry McKenzie" singin the tunes!!!!!! Oh, and of course snacks........... 05/27/10 ~ bubble bubble................ GOOD NEWS!!! Don's 4 wheeler has been found by our dedicated officers and returned. Just keep an eye out as we still have some around here that need "watching". This is fantastic news for our community, our thanks to the Sheriff's office!!! Just got a call from mommy to be Sandi........... YEP still "to be"!!! Jena Brooke decided NOT to appear today as scheduled, hmmm, she has a mind of her own already!!!! Pat, just have to be patient to become that "great granma"!! Tonight, line dancin' at Jack's ...... come on over for "refreshments" yum yum appetizers and fun and "other things" REMEMBER? Our prayers are with Jesse, he has surgery this Sunday and will be out of town (Orlando) a while. Think of him, he has asked for no cards or flowers (he's allergic to them anyway but you can send to me!!! heh heh) Work is speeding up on the new Sunoco station, hoping to get it up and going this week, yea, what a great time for a Memorial Day weekend in Salt Springs. 05/26/10 ~ Whew, it's a brewing this week................. catch those fish!!!! Get out the boats and runners!!! ALERT ALERT keep your eyes and ears open around your neighborhoods............ thieves are continuing to loot our area. Had an email from Don (Illinois), came back to SS and his Blue Yamaha Bruin 350 was stolen recently. He is offering a $500. reward for it's safe return!!! Also another Spring boiler came over the weekend to find they had NO GAS in their boat......... several things have been happening, keep watchful eye out!! This is not our usual happy playground when others invade our property!!!! Seems a lot of this was in the houses around the Ice House area and Kerr Shores. Shhhhh, another surprise. Cactus Jack's hosting surprise party for Cactus Phil. You know that Lynn is now officially Cactus Lynn and Phil is going to enjoy retirement with that new grandson and his Ga. home. Don't tell him...... just be there tomorrow 6:00!!! Good news for 88 and pickers and grinners!!! The whole gang is movin' back to Thurs. night pickin' and grinnin'. SATURDAY............ yep, this Saturday at the Square, $6.00 dinners by Burkhalter cookers. Tickets can be bought at Bass Champs or through a Cougar football player or cheerleader!!! Dinners 11-2:00. Car wash 11-3ish. Thanks to everyone putting this together for our kids!!!! ALL proceeds go the THEM!!! Monday morning there will be free Memorial Day breakfast 8:00 at VFW and service by the flagpole at 9:00. Citizens will travel to two cemeteries to memorialize our veterans by placing flags on graves. Back at the "v" will be a flag retirement ceremony for everyone. 05/25/10 ~ Well, it just bubbled right along without me........... hmmm Well, we trekked across Alaska and it was a TRIP. What a beautiful place and you can see soooo much as it's daylight most all the time!!! Most everything cooperated with our family Lampoon vacation, the Thomas' only lost their luggage twice and only missed two connecting flights!!! See that I said ONLY as it could always be worse. Sarah did not stand beside the tracks and wave in Wasilla as we passed through, what' up with that??? The train excusion is FANTASTIC, did the Gold Star Alaskan Rail Tour, WOW!!! It's always good to be back in Salt Springs though. Hey, Mr. George Custer snuck in a birthday huh, well, he thought he did. What a great SURPRISE party for him at the "v" on Saturday!!!! Happy Happy Birthday to YOU!!!! And George King, lucky dog, won the shake-a-day last night at the "v", it should have been me I needed the money after they trip (know he'll share some, heh heh)! MarBQue still doing great sandwiches and plates at the 88, go by and try one. Things lookin' good in Salt Springs............ Grocery Store got it going' on with new gas tanks and diesel!!!! Great deli in there too. Progress goin' on across street at new Sunoco with Subway and bank comin' in, can you imagine, here??? Our thoughts are with you Jesse!!! 05/18/10 ~ It's likely "boiling" with heat today after the dreary day yesterday, but we are SO thankful for the nice rain! It was beginning to get way too hot for May! MoJo is enjoying some cooler weather this week and next in "The Land of the Midnight Sun." Have fun, Melvene, and enjoy the time with your family! SHHH! It's a SURPRISE, but Mr. George Custer, our famous fiddlin' buddy is having a birthday! Saturday afternoon at the VFW will be FUN, FUN, FUN as we honor him with a jam session. Gather there at 3:30. 05/12/10 ~ News, News and more News!!!! It's just bubblin' up everywhere!!! First of all, what beautiful Salt Springs weather................. whew, now it's hot but don't mention it, we don't want the cold back. But what am I saying???? My family and I will be in Alaska, yes, Alaska Friday!!!!! Doing the train excusions across the great COLD state (wonder if we'll see Russia from the dome top??) heh heh!!!! Cojo will be in full control of Spring Boils.............. and will post it on "SaltSpringsFL.com" website. That's a great website for info around and about SS too. Thanks to businesses that are joining in, Civic Association purchased a site and Karen is doing FANTASTIC job with it. Still having great singing at the "v" on Tues (Taco night) and Sat. and don't forget Wii bowling, hamburgers and BINGO on Fri. Saturday will be those yum yum ham dinners......... no lunch this Sunday!!! So good to see the ballfield in action. T-ball on Sat. mornings. VFW has really got the field ready for summer ballgames. 05/04/10 ~ So much bubblin and boilin around us, get your calendar out!!!! fish a bitin' First of all, this morning Smoky Kropp's memorial service is being held (NC). Our prayers to Joan and all his friends and family. Smoky was like a teddy bear friend, always smilin' and enjoying his life. We are so sorry to hear of his untimely death. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO CACTUS JACK!!! YEP, WE KNOW HE IS LOOKING DOWN AND STILL A PART OF ALL OF US. I'm sure he's sharing cake in Heaven with the angels today. Tonight, Cactus Jack's will have Mexican Night complete with Lynne's specialty Margaritas, mama mia, and a Mexican spread for Happy Hour, I'm Happy already just knowin' I'll be there. OLE'. Also pool tournament later, they were packed in there last week shootin' some balls around!!! Great turnout for the Tee Ball signup on Saturday. 04/29/10 ~ With great sadness I must let everyone know that our good friend, Smokey, had a boating accident this morning and passed away. Smokey always had that smile and joke for everyone. He loved Salt Springs and was always a part of "our" family group!!!!! All I know right now is that he apparently fell out of his boat and drowned, I am assuming in North Carolina but I will get more details from Joan as she finds out from there. He recently went on a "trip" with us but somehow no one told him it was for the weekend, not just the day!! Oh my.......... he just laughed along the whole weekend and bought a toothbrush at the local Quick Stop. He will be greatly missed by many friends!!!

04/25/10 ~ Yep, she's a bubblin up people everywhere!!! What a great day on the water yesterday!!! Karen's son is here from Illinois and will inform on the arrangements. She will be taken back to Indiana as present plans are, to be buried beside her husband. Our prayers continue to be with her family, the Salt Springs Village and her many friends. Now that's a do not miss event. Jack and Gina will return from Leesburg Bikefest this weekend to get ready for SS friends on Thurs. Aren't they great??? Cindy did fantastic job on "SURPRISE" PARTY!!! Everyone had a great time including the birthday boy, Danny O!! Fish were great at the "v" yesterday. Thank you RICK!!!! What a guy, what a fish frying fool!!! Hmm, keep him around. 04/24/10 ~ With much sadness, we are to report that Karen Kesling passed away suddenly Fri. morning at Oakhurst Rehab. after a short stay in the hospital. She had just been transferred the night before. Her son will be making arrangements in Illinois. She will be missed by Salt Springs Villagers and her many friends. Our prayers to all through this.

04/21/10 ~ Yes sirree, it is!!! Lots of people in there over the weekend, come on down and spend your money with us, huh??? Our thoughts and hurry up and get back to us prayers to Mary, the beautiful lady with all the matching accessories!!!! She doesn't see well but always has her fashion going on. Amazing! She has been in Monroe this week but all will be well. Another fun night with ED last night at the "V', amazing how well we think we can sing....... and some really can!!!! Enjoyed by all. Coming up on May 4 will be a Celebration of Cactus Jack Mexican party at Cactus Jack's. That is the date of his birthday. Lynn has a lot planned than afternoon.............. complete with "adult" pinatas. What an icon in this community, Jack will always be remembered........ miss him terribly!!! Tonight famous fried chick at Frontier and Wii Bowling too. Congratulations go to the new officers of the Salt Springs Civic Association!!! President Karen Clifford (our website girl, she's sharp!), Vice Pres. Blondy Dykes (hey, you know her), Secretary Stacey Hager and Treasurer Rhonda Benitez. You go girls, continue the spirit of the "association", it's a great thing. Kudos to Rusty, Joe, Kathy and Melvene for all they've done!!! Thanks. uh, 88 still has gas............... and Mar's barbeque is absolutely GREAT - Thurs.-Mon 11-8:00. Hey, gals, they have the cutest "reader" glasses at the grocery store, yes, really and only $3.00. Speaking of glasses, make sure you get some polarized (tom terrific) sunglasses to go out on the water. Amazing what you can see in the water. I got a pair at Buck n Bass.......... also at Jim's and Marina. Psst, helps especially if YOU are looking for those fishin' beds right about now. On the way to Marco Island for a few days, so cojo will be in charge!!! Go Cojo!!!! Remember, is you get "poofed" off the email, not a personal thing............. have no clue why but let us know!! We can magically "poof" you back. Karen (Village) is in hospital, we are wishing her well. Want you to get better soon. Jean Appleyard had surgery this week, she should be out dancin' soon, I hope so!!! The 25th at the Frontier will be a day of play....... games, Larry's Mexican specials, singing and probably some dancin? Be there too. We are going to miss our friends........... a few at the time they are leaving us till next time down here. Kind of like being beamed up.......... here today and then gone to Canada, Michigan, Nova Scotia, Connecticut, Indiana, New Jersey, Iowa, Texas and on and on............... see ya next year!!! 04/16/10 ~ It's swirlin' around getting ready for another SS weekend.......... which spells FUN<FOOD<FRIENDS galore Get that calendar and pencil out.......... write these down so you don't miss out!!!! Barbara hosted a great jewelry party, mmm mmm good snackies and she thanks EVERYONE for making it such a success!!! Tonight, hamburgers, BINGO and Bowling at the "v". Tomorrow pickin' and grinnin' and helpin' out our friend Rosie at the "v" 4:00 until. There will 50/50 tickets and more!!!! Yummy Dinners always on Sat. and Sun. Schultz clan moving into SS for the "RUTH Birthday".......... see ya at Bass Champs tonight!!!! Thanks to Mar for tomorrow's dinner from 88 mar-be-que!!! Kerr City has been here since the 1880's out on 316. Original homes, buildings, barns, Post Office makes an interesting ride through and if you're lucky Mr. and Mrs. Brennan will be glad to talk at ya!!! Rentals available right there on Lake Kerr.......... what an interesting place. Actually a "still operating" gas pump, the oldest Texaco "station" in Florida installed in 1925!!! 04/12/10 ~ Boy, is it ever................. what another great Salt Sprngs weekend!!! There will be a memorial service honoring Urb Beitz on Tuesday, April 20 at 10:00 AM in our little Christian Church. Our thoughts and prayers to his family and friends............ of which he had MANY! Ginny Etheredge is in the hospital and is not doing well. Ginny is Rusty's mom but many of you know her from many years in the Salt Springs area. Please send her your prayers, SOMEONE always listens!!! Hope all those yard sales were prosperous this past weekend, what a beautiful time for them. We had a visitor from NC here for the FIRST time. He emailed this morning and emphasized again, what a place this is. Hard to believe how lucky we are, well no, I believe it!!! Salt Springs seems to be THE place you hate to leave and always look forward to the next trip back. Could be those good friends, fun, food and such a variety of things to do in such a small area!!! Well, Spring has Sprung!!! It's time to start in on that spring cleaning and what better way to do it than begin with cleaning those carpets to put in the fresh smell of summer comin' on!!! Jimmy Littleton can get those carpets and upholstery smellin' springy after this cold, dreary winter!!! Call him 685-1598. Southern Rukus did their usual fine job of entertaining the Frontier group. Jack's had a really good band too, TNT. And what a night at VFW Friday night.......... a real first, one to go down in the history book (of Wii bowling). Partners Ron Baker and Marlene Larsen BOTH had a PERFECT 300 SCORE, both of them?? Now what are the odds on that........... and yes, of course THEY WON!!! Sorry Bob and Dan BUT.............. can't touch that!!! Larry and Margie had a fun day at their place. Margie's birthday and Jerry's......... hey, party going on!! Larry, mmm mmm good fried fish and bunches of food. We were honored to hear Mr. George Custer on the fiddle..... and then the Southern Rukus guys (loved the bucket drums, Rob on keyboard, Gary, Terry is hot on the guitar, Joyce on banjo....... of course Margie a singin' and Larry, Thomas, Jesse and Rufus!!! Just a GREAT day!!! (Don, we missed you but know you were singin' from above) Mr. Frank enjoyed his "surprise" at Jack's........... more food, family, friends and fun!!!! This Thurs. is Barbara Cato's Premier Jewelry Party at Ms. Margaret's house (was her mom). In Los Haven off 314, she will have signs out. You get all kinds of bonus points toward jewelry for BEING THERE, bring a friend, RSVPin', wearing a solid color top......... sounds like FUN. 6:30, Apr. 15. 685-2185.
