IT TOOK ME OVER 2 HOURS TO COMPLETELY DEFRAG AND CLEAN.......SO IF YOU RECEIVED FROM ME OR ANYONE ELSE...........WE ARE NOT SENDING IT!!!! BELOW I WILL ADD TO THE BOTTLING PLANT DILEMMA THAT HAS BEEN SENT TO ME. ALSO, FOR AN INTERESTING LOOK AT BOTTLED WATER AND IT'S EFFECT.........SEARCH DOCUMENTARY "TAPPED", WHAT AN EYE OPENER FOR EVERYONE!!!! Additional information to my prior message. -- I spoke with Todd Eller of St. Johns River Management and discussed the new Bottling Plant's proposal. Their proposal as discussed by Mr. Jones, the engineer, was that they would run 18 hours. We went over the numbers. Eller advised that tanker trucks hold 6,300 gallons (at 7.48 pounds per gallon is 47,000 pounds). Thus 100,000 gallons divided by 6,300 equals 15.8, but he would only allow 15 trucks per day. Thus 15 trucks times 45 minutes equals 11.25 hours of running time (course this depends if they can fill the tanks that quickly). He further stated that Mr. Jones agreed to put a meter on their well and he (Eller would be watching this meter). I got the impression that he doubted that a tanker could be filled in 45 minutes using a 4 inch well. So 6,700 gallons in 45 minutes would be 148.8 gallons per minute. That seems like a lot to me. Course they could use a pump. Does anyone know pumps? However, if they ran 18 hours for 15 trucks would be 1.2 hours per tank or 92 gallons per minute. I asked if he could put an additional well on the property. His answer was NO. I asked if he could divide the property and sell to another person, who could then do the same. His answer was YES, but it would have to be a legitimate sale. Hmmm! Course any sale by a lawyer (Moody) would be legitimate! Anyway the bottom line is that the Bottling Plant is approved by St. Johns River Management. (I WITHHELD THE NAME OF SENDER) A county employee told me that the Moody's will consider piping the water to their property at the marina and them taking it by barge to a bottling facility. The attached aerial shows the property owned by Moody's to be almost contiguous from the well to the marina. It appears they would only need a right of way agreement from the county to lay a pipeline in a short section of the road. Most of the route is on Moody owned property. (shown in red) The recent 5 to 0 BCC vote about meters on private wells seemed to indicate all commissioners believe the water coming from a well is the exclusive property of the real property owner. If they are consistent and vote the same on this issue, it will be hard to stop. (I WITHHELD THE NAME OF SENDER) THIS INFORMATION IS IMPORTANT TO THOSE OPPOSING THE PLANT I AM SURE. ANYONE CAN CHECK THIS INFORMATION FOR THEMSELVES, I AM ONLY THE MESSAGER, REMEMBER????? I AM SORRY FOR THE SALT SPRINGS COMMUNITY THAT WE ARE FACING THIS, IT'S ALWAYS BEEN SO CALM AND SERENE HERE AND HOPEFULLY WE WILL GET THROUGH THIS AND BACK TO THE LIFE WE ALL LOVE. ( attorney ) reapplied, new permit states: Construction of a well with an outside diameter less than 6" to produce mineral water to be loaded in trucks and transported to a location within the St. Johns River Water Management District Territory for treatment and bottling. As of March 8th a core group of people meet with an Attorney to continue our fight to oppose this project, there are expenses, we all need to stay together and support this cause, Please donate what you can, be it money for legal expense or info ( facts ) that will help us win against this Unnecessary, Environmentally Disturbing Project, and save our well from more water shortages. As of this time Zoning is April 25th at 5:30pm, County Commissioners is May 17th at 2:00pm. 03/11/11 ~ Well, it's bubblin' slower in this cool weather.............lots, lots going on this weekend!!!! Chris and Joyce returning to Salt Springs this weekend. Chris just finished his last week of radiation of six weeks, HOORAY for YOU and we'll be so glad to see you two. Chris will return to Tampa in a month for another surgery.......then it's all over, thank goodness. We are always by your side in our thoughts and prayers!!! WD Thompson passed away. If you knew him, it makes you smile just to think of him. What a jokester, he brought laughter to a lot of Salt Springs. There will be a memorial service for him 3/19, 11:00 AM at the Little Christian Church. His brother is Bobby Thompson (wife Judy). We are smilin' with ya, WD!!! TOMORROW HUGE SALT SPRINGS DAY!!! I remember when I first moved here the county commissioner from this area made a derogatory comment in Salt Springs...........well, everyone came out to vote in masses and guess what........HE LOST, hmm. Don't ever sell our little community short!!! They do stand together to protect what we have and who we are. And on the 19th the Men's Auxilliary will be having an auction with the Salt Springs famous Johnny Cato on the mike for the bidding - 3-5:00, also fish dinners that day 4-7. 03/04/11 ~ Well, hopefully it will bubble up some rain soon!!! Jesse, we will be thinking about you and your daughter..........our love and prayers go with you to Las Vegas to stay with her. Hopefully after her surgery and treatments, you can tour the West Coast!!! Miss you around til June or July!!! We'll be right here when you get back. Keep us posted on everything. Jesse's daughter has foot cancer requiring surgery and chemo/radiation. Leaving a number to contact him 352-562-8613/702-331-2529. Get your pots out March 12...................Know Mel & Virginia are gettin' ours out for the Hor-Mels at the motorhome. Would like to do a rerun of last year, now THAT would be somethin'. You know we won 1st place and 1st place!!!! We are still bouncin' around in disbelief!!! Lots of fun and Civic Association is still teamed up with the Cactus Jack Chili Cookoff so come on down and support them. Charlotte will be selling her delicious Strawberry shortcake, homemade too. Have had several emails with letters attached that are being sent to different officials in the State concerning the proposed water bottling plant. There will also be a meeting Sunday at the Ponderosa at noon, be there. I did receive an email from Mr. Moody and would be happy to add anything he would like to share with the community......but it's hard to get past industry/National Forest - quiet/semis in and out in and out - large building at Lake George/the present beauty of the scene, residents serenity/disruption..........???? Everyone is entitled to their own opinion!! Always remember the Flea Market every Sat. in the Square right after you have breakfast with Cindy at Sq. Meal!!!! 03/01/11 ~ And the flowers are a bloomin', woohoo What a fantastic party for Virginia Haan Sat. afternoon and evening and night!!! She is officially RETIRED!!!!!! And today HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU AND CHARLOTTE ARMSTRONG!!! It was great to see so many of our friends here, the Ft. McCoy School gang that we worked with, Mike & Dian Finn, Bea & Steve, OUR boat buddies and Smitty drove up from Kissimmee just to hug Virginia and congratulate her....... but had to leave. Thanks to Dorothy for providing us the PARTY PLACE, thanks to Bill Motes for paying for the decorations (that was his way of saying Happy Retirement Virginia) and the girls that decorated.....Barb, Lavonne, Marilyn, Connie, Dorothy and moi, thanks to Larry and Roy Franks for doing the meat and everyone chipping in with veggie/appetizer dishes. And Special Thanks to our Friends Southern Rukus with Rob on keyboard and Mr. Custer making special appearance AND Margie who came through in the middle of the afternoon to make this one heck of a party. 02/21/11 ~ Well, another beautiful Salt Springs weekend and more to come!!!!!! We just keep bubblin' up fun, food and friends!!!! Virginia Haan retiring Fri, wahoo, Party Sat. 5:00 Frontier!!!! TONIGHT: Civic Association Meeting at 7:00. The dredging of canal between Little and Big Lake Kerr AND the proposed bottling factory on Lake George to be discussed. Remember....... through me you get comments/opinions of others.......... then you form your own!!!! This is merely the news from Salt Springs, sometimes concerns, that's all part of our lives!!! On the concern list is still the bottling plant being proposed off 19 at Lake George. Kudos to Commisioner Kathy Bryant for making motion to stop this and to Comm. Charlie Stone and Mike Amsdan. Thank you for listening to Salt Springs............... yukko to our own Comm. Carl Zalak, who thinks it's a good idea and was quite rude to members of our community at the meeting. Yukko to Comm. Stan McClain also. This issue, however is NOT over!!! Do not let your guard down. I was told the proposal could be brought back to the Board within a year!!! So that would mean anytime??? 02/19/11 ~ And it never stops bubblin' over with fun, fun and more fun!!!!! OK OK, hope you are up and gettin' those Jeeps and trucks ready for today's Jeep Poker Run. Breakfast at 10:30.............. be ready to pull out by 11:00!!!! FRONTIER!!!! Thanks Dorothy for breakfast and hope Bull shows up with his "special" breakfast loaf, now that is good!!!! All kind of things goin' on this weekend!!! Those engines are revvin' up at Daytona and the party is at the "V". Men's Aux havin' Daytona Dogs and Oysters for the race. Come on down and pick out your NASCAR winners for this year........... I have mine, he's so cute!!!! THEN mosey on down to Cactus Jack's for pickin' and grinnin' with Salt Run, you know that good lookin' foursome playing Bluegrass. Drink and lunch specials by Cactus Lynn!!! Great home cooked dinners only $6.00!!!! Now this would be 5:00 at Cactus Jack's, pickin, grinnin', eatin' and sippin' your favorite brew......... and it just could be a Diet Coke!!! Had fantastic 10 days in Mexico with my friend Juanita. Wow, what a paradise!!! We shared jam packed days wandering all over the place, and yep, found a Casino where they play YAK!!! 02/16/11 ~ Still in little Mexican village of Puerto Morelos, what a treat this is!!!!! Read that the bottling plant was voted down 3-2 and OUR county commissioner Zalak was one of the two that VOTED FOR it??? What's up with that?? Guess he doesn't need our vote the next time, huh???? OK OK, get those Jeeps out again, trucks, buggies, whatever you are going to take. JEEP RUN this Saturday, breakfast at 10:00, get your Poker Run card and get on the trail!!!! FRONTIER, ya know!!! 02/10/11 ~ AS THE SPRING BOILS FROM MEXICO.... OK OK hope this goes through. Seems like a big issue in the forest and IT IS!! Weather, food, friends in my Mexican community of Puerto Morelos are fantastic!!!!!! Family Wants To Bottle Water In Marion County. Some homeowners told WFTV they are gearing up for a big fight at a public hearing next week. See the News Report on www.wftv.com about the 6 million dollar water plant that is proposed for a residential neighborhood located in the middle of Ocala National Forest and will be overlooking Lake George!

02/08/11 ~ Below is more information emailed to me on the proposed bottling plant to be located on Lake George side of 19, near the existing Marina. I went on Marion County Commissioners and you can email them. Kathy Bryant and Carl Zalak (our commissioner) were both here for the Tea Party meeting to give politicians a chance to speak to Salt Springs. Meeting Feb. 15 at 2:00. Petition to sign at Seiler's hardware, email or ATTEND!!! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi Melvene, Unless the original Feb. 15th meeting was postponed, the below is incorrect. It's Feb. 15th at 2 pm. Also, think we need to stress the amount of water Larry plans to use everyday. Get this, 90,000 gallons PER DAY! Yet, we are only allowed to water our lawns once per week. This will not only affect those of us who live out here, as think of how many of those trucks will be rolling through Salt Springs everyday! Thanks, (Remember we are talking about 30 plus semis running in and out of there each day!!!!!!) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hey Melvene, A little more on this in case one asks, according to Larry Moody, I was told by him it would be a 4" well taking 60,000 gallons a day and would employ 30 people. Of course we see in the paper a 6" well and up to 90,000 gals/day. And according to a person at the zoning office, they were given a power point presentation by the "petitioner" saying this water already naturally comes up and they would just be tapping into it, taking no more out of the ground than 2 similar wells already in the area. I am not aware of any wells in the area that are taking several thousands of gallons a day. For sure, this info needs to get out. Thanks for sending it. Not to mention an 80 X 360, 20ft. high eyesore of a building, or the water level dropping and anyone with a shallow well will have to dig a new one. Sign the petition at Seilers Hardware store and show up at the meeting.

02/07/11 ~ It's bubblin up rain today.............come on down our lakes need bunches of those little drops!!! Proposed industry coming to Salt Springs???? Let's hope not but it will be topic of Co. Commissioner meeting on the 15th at 2:00. This one we really need to have our voices heard. Larry Moody has already proposed it to the zoning board. It would be water bottling facility with large building near Bill's Branch on Lake George. If passed, there would be 22 plus semis in and out every day!!! I certainly would not want to live with that in my area. If you cannot attend, then email Marion Co. Commissioners. Of course, there's nothing like being there!!!! What a great Superbowl game, parties and food hosted by Men's Aux and the "V" and Lynn at Cactus Jack's. Thanks guys and gals. TONIGHT Wii bowling and something yummy to eat at Cactus Jack's. 02/01/11 ~ Springs bubblin' up Superbowl Fans.................let the game begin!!! SS beginning the Superbowl buzz. Packers vs. Steelers, hmmm Did you know XLV is the 45th Superbowl game. Packers have won three (the first two as a matter of fact) and Steelers have won 6 out of 7!!!! AND Cowboy Stadium is in Arlington, Tx, you can order a ticket from $2,750 to $23,717, I've ordered mine and put on Donald Trump's VISA, think he'll notice!!! In case you don't have a ticket..........WELL, the Men's Aux. is having BIG Superbowl Party, Sun. 6th selling ham dinners from 3:00 til, 50/50 tickets/door prizes/ happy hour drinks.....big screen in the hall as well as TV's everywhere in canteen. 01/30/11 ~ Just a bubblin and boilin up Florida weather, hooray Now everyone, see why YOU are in Florida, what a beautiful weekend around Salt Springs!!! Jackie Doss, we love you and appreciate everything you have done for our community and the VFW. I look for YOU to be BACK!!!! You can party with the girls now!!!!! A great day at the "v" honoring Jackie........everyday should be in her honor (the way I cook I REALLY love her) What a honor I had on Friday night (at the VFW) meeting little Somer Thompson's grandparents Phil and Debbie. If you were in Florida I'm sure you remember the abduction and killing of Somer Oct. 2009 in the Orange Park area. She was thrown like nothing into a dumpster in Ga. The killer is in jail and sadly for us, he is being fed, clothed and still breathes!!! There is a website, SomerThompsonFoundation where you can learn more about Somer, her family and this case. Thank you Phil and Debbie for sharing with me and NO, PHIL YOUR name is NOT MELVENE when you are in the "V". FIRST ANNUAL 2011 JEEP RUN, and what a run it was. We had 19 or 20 vehicles enjoying nature on a poker run. Ended up on Salt Springs Run, got an airboat off the ground and into the water. Larry rescued him with trusty jumper cables and then he took us for rides, not Larry, the airboater!!! On the way back, Dr. Harris family from Palatka had taken wrong road and stuck up to the patooties...........well BULL to the rescue with his trusty wench (that would be a tool, not a woman). So lucky for them we were out yesterday or they would still be walking, of course, he said he didn't know how they got in so surely wouldn't know how to walk out. Yep, thats the woods, people!!! Our guide Randy Rudd KNOWS where we can go and thank you Randy!!!! Had gourmet meal of hotdogs, dips, sandwiches.........now where could you be to have so much fun. Like Charlie Armstrong said, this group will never sit around and wonder what to do. Returned to Frontier for some pickin' with Grayson and Margie and Larry!!! This was a STELLAR SS Day!!! again!!! Well, just so happens that world famous Bluegrass Band, Salt Run, will be pickin the tunes at Cactus Jack's at 5:00. We listened to their songs on the ride yesterday thanks to Bill's Bose.............hey, they have their own website up so we can keep up with them!!! I just like to look at their picture, hmmmm!!! ALSO Card playing at the Frontier this afternoon, talked to Connie this morning and the group is comin' in. FOOTBALL ONLY ONE WEEK AWAY, THE BIG GAME!! SUPERBOWL.............WAHOO, food, fun, friends everywhere!!! Men's Auxiliary will be hosting party at the "V" with plenty of food, big screen, 50/50 tickets, football squares (better get in quick) AND Cactus Jack's having blowout with Suzanne's famous lasagna, snacks, happy hour drinks and more chances on the squares!! 01/27/11 ~ Hey, it's bubblin' over with new friends........................ Welcome to Marty and Ken, livin' on Lake Joe and eager to join in the Salt Springs fun!!! The Geriatric Playground as we refer to it fondly. Soooo good to see Dave and Toni last night. Last of the apple pie, guess I'll stick with Dorothy's fried chicks on Weds. and Wii bowling!!! Dave the Hat, sorry I missed ya but glad to hear you had to hurry back to SC because of the case of wine arrival!!! Good goin'!!! OK OK, Canadian Chuck, hope I get this right.........strange story no matter where you are but you must understand where you are when in the forest. Mr. King attracted a rabid fox........yep, came right in the house and bit him. Now wait a minute, what scent were you wearing??? Anyway, after many shots and I mean gunshots and needle shots, all seems to be mending. Repairs in the house should be finished before the next rain, you know those holes from shooting at a rabid fox!!!! Now that's a story to take back up north and they'll wonder where in world you are.........don't tell them everything, we like it here. Monday night at Jack's, Wii bowling we had three 300's in one game and no, it wasn't me!!! Marilyn Danny and Diann..........you go. Enjoyed my weekend with Cuban Jack and Gina.............went to a Brazilian Birthday Party, whoa, and I thought we were loud and had fun........we sang in four languages.........and that was before we had a drink!!! Alright Gina, hear you got the Spanish teaching lessons for us to brush up on......guess I need to work on this before next race..............I could understand more of what the Brazilian racer was telling me!!!!! FRIDAY: VFW juicy hamburgers, BINGO and Wii bowling!!! ...Cactus Jack's has "4 on The Floor" singin' the tunes ...Frontier, making your own music!!!! That's fun. SATURDAY: Jackie Doss "Queen for a Day" at the "v". What ever are we going to do without Jackie???? Never had to think about it until now. 4-7 fish dinners served. FREE cake and ice cream. Jackie Doss has done so much for our local VFW for, what, 12 years??? The dedication and great food she has brought us will always be remembered, always. Still gonna do the cakes??? Love you much. SATURDAY MORNING: 1st Forest Jeep Run..............meet at Frontier at 10:30 for breakfast by Dorothy and then into the wild.............need 4-wheel drive, some places through forest are little tight so I wouldn't drive my custom painted Porsche SUV if I were you. This is so much fun, so many places to see and yes, we do have our own guides and no, I wouldn't be one!! Going to Shell Mound and have hotdogs..............bring your eats and drinks. SATURDAY NIGHT: Sock Hop, yep, groovin' on down at the Village from 7-11. Bring your own drinkies and get down there and be-bop the night away. SUNDAY: My favorite Johnny Cato, well, really Joann's Johnny Cato will be playing the tunes in Jack's. Salt Run will be in the building and pickin' and grinnin. Lynn's having drink specials while the music is playin'. Buckets of beer too!! It will be 5'o clock...........somewhere, how about Cactus Jack's, playin' 5-7:00 Thanks to Pat, John, Johnny and Grayson, you are great to us!!! Our prayers to Pauline and Larry Downs. Pauline is critically ill and in pain. She has made homemade fudge for the VFW for years for donations and they have donated six new bikes each year for the Children's Christmas Party. Our love to Pauline and our thoughts with Larry during this time. 01/21/11 ~ Those Cuban sandwiches had things boiling at Jack's............... Last night Jack and Gina had 'em packed in Jack's with those delicious Cuban sandwiches. They line 'em up like that at their concession.....this weekend I get to "press" some of those sandwiches, my reward I'll eat one every now and then during the day!!!! MMmmm, good! Carol also had everyone off their seats singing. Great evening. Our friends Mike and Juanita came over, had never been there or had the Cubans........they'll be back!!! Lynn, great job and thanks for the drink specials too. OK OK, dates at the Horse and Hound (need to look at calendar, ya think?) Tomorrow night, the 22nd, 8-12 there will be bands and special guest singer. SUNDAY, 23rd, starting at noon, proceeds from tips and orders will go to the Katie Mobley fund during those dates and times. Trish (88) is home from surgery and doing well. Had her 4th chemo of 9 planned. Homebound for a while, think it would be good to cheer her up with a card................20425 NE 143rd Street, Salt Springs 32134. We're thinking of ya, girl!!! 01/19/11 ~ Hey, it's bubblin' up all those northern folks...........hmm, makes you glad you can come to the Springs, huh??? It was a packed evening at the VFW for tacos last night. So great to see all our friends from up yonder back in Salt Springs. Thanks to the kitchen help, Marilyn and Lavonne, we had plenty of tomatoes and lettuce for those all time favorite tacos. Ed had us singing and George back on the mike with his smooth voice!!!! A wonderful night with all the friends from far and in between!!!! Of course, had to go down and see Dan in the pool tournament at Jack's..................WHAT more people, well, of course. Lynn has some great food going on down there for happy hour and I am so so sorry I missed the spaghetti, hear it was delicious!! Psst congrats to Virginia on Monday night Wii................a New Year 300!!! TONIGHT: Dorothy's southern fried chicks!!! Yep, she's been out chasing them little feathered fellows for tonight's dinner!!! Soon Dorothy and Connie will be a cookin' up lots of stuff in the kitchen. I can't wait for the appetizer tray back...................the Restaurant "Wilderness" is closing. Thanks guys for the good food while you were there!!!! oh, and Wii bowling. 01/14/11 ~ Let's bubble up some warm weather, it's time!!!!! You know "fish are bitin"!! The service for Katie Mobley was lovely yesterday. Dwight and Carla wanted happiness and energy in it and it was done just that way. That would have been Katie. Our love to Dwight and Carla and the family. More details later on "Katie's Day" at Horse and Hound on Jan. 23. Missing Chris and Joyce, down in Tampa for Chris' continuing treatments. He's doing GREAT!!! Seems so many are down with the flu/virus/SaltSpringsFlu or something. Get better, we don't want it around long, keeps us from having fun!!! TONIGHT TONIGHT Dorothy's Birthday party at the Frontier and yes, it is her Birthday. Think Back Porch playing, ah, it's a party, we could sing if we have to ...........well, maybe that's a stretch!!! Great group at Cactus Jack's for Karaoke and them good finger things Lynn puts out, mmm mmm, she knows how to feed a crowd!!! You go Carol, you've got 'em coming in and singin". Joan, you missed it I DID SING, maybe it's a good thing you left beforehand!!! Sugar Bear at Jack's this weekend and don't forget planning the Valentine's party and Chili Cookoff coming up. SUNDAY..........Men's Aux at the VFW will be stirring up pots of homemade spaghetti, yum yum, get on down there. All they have to do is put it in, stir in up and serve it and you can hear Italian noises in the air. 3-6 dinner time!! Jan 27 Ed will be have computer workshop.....Share and Tell at the V. He did fantastic job with us last year, it's hard working with the "duh", how'd you do that? Jane...you need to be there. 1:00 The Tea Party was a packed auditorium. One of the jeeps for sale is parked at our favorite Hardware Store......great little jeep for woods riding and by the way, planning a "woods ride in a couple of weeks", that's a real treat. There is so so much in these woods.........Bill/JD/Randy, just to name a few, can find and identify anything..........or so they say, but so far they are doing pretty darn good!!! 01/12/11 ~ OK OK, we've already bubbled through cold weather, what's up with this??? Rain, send rain............ TONIGHT TEA PARTY MEETING with special guest speaker Frantz Kebreau, should be a real interesting time!!! It will be at the New Beginnings Church between Baptist Church and Cactus Jack's on 314. They have awesome auditorium to fit us all in!!! 7:00 tonight!!!! TONIGHT - Dorothy's famous southern fried chicks and Wii bowling at Frontier and cards at Jack's and chickie wings at VFW!!! Always something to do around here, ain't life grand??? Our belated sympathy goes out to Jaye Stagmer and family with the death of her brother Craig Wilmot Dec. 29. Prayers and wishes to Trish (88 Store). She will be having surgery on Thurs and then our girl is going to heal, I just know it!!! The Palatka camps ganged up on Bass Champs over the weekend and what can you say....................food was cooked to perfection no matter what we ordered!!! They all are still raving and thanks to Terri for heading up the Birthday song, think you could make Hooters!!!! But don't, stay with us!!! We were lucky to get tables as the Village People seem to be taking over before we get there, hmm, what's up with that? Oh, they got there earlier!!!! Sounds like a fable I once read!! ALWAYS good to see you all. Next Thurs. 20th, our very own Cuban Jack and Gina will be doing cuban sandwiches at Jack's, mark you calendar for that one!!! Our ultimate love to Carla and Dwight Mobley. The service for their daughter, Katie, will be tomorrow at 2:00 at the Baptist Church on Baseline. I will try to get specific directions for everyone. Katie worked at Horse and Hound and they will be sponsoring a benefit on the 23rd and making donations to Katie's fund at Wachovia. Katie will be remembered as a beautiful young woman, full of life, avid Gator fan, loved to dance..........ah, and that smile!!! Our sympathy to those who lost their lives, their loved ones and those making recovery strides in Tucson, Ariz. Sadly, we cannot control the thoughts and actions of evil people. With all the bad things that happen, remember goodness prevails. Someone is looking for a rollaway bed.................still have jeeps, cars and such for sale around here!!!! 01/07/11 ~ bubble bubble right into another year!!!! First of all, with so much sadness and sympathy, we send our prayers and love to Dwight and Carla Mobley. Their daughter had a tragic accident Weds. afternoon. There are just not any words that can express our deepest feelings for them. Now we are into another new year, 2011. Hard to believe but here we are!!! From all the stories, seems everyone enjoyed their ending of 2010. I shared a truly fun experience New Year's Eve with the Palatka camps riding the "ho train" all decorated through the forest. JD, great job on the decor. Melba just danced her way into the new year and then ANOTHER BIRTHDAY, Susie enjoyed new year's day being another year younger!!! Leann shared her birthday with Christmas day..........and yes, I am finding out you better get a gift no matter how close your BD is to Christmas, and that was Ohio Diana that shared her BD/Christmas story.....sometimes I just do an "oops"!!! Happy Birthday to Joe Massey, Joannie did fabulous job keeping that one a secret and thanks for all the good eats!!!! Marilyn.........another year of fun behind, another year ahead....happy birthday too. Shan and Tammy back on the Wii trail!!! Danny was the first new year baby to make 300, imagine that?? Mon. 12/30/10 ~ It's a bubblin down to the NEW YEAR 2011, unbelievable..........time flies when you're having fun in Salt Springs!!! With a lot of sadness, Robert called from Macclenny and a very dear friend of all of ours, one who loved Salt Springs, fished and partied here every year for probably the past 30 years or more. He dearly loved and respected Cactus Jack and was here for all cookouts, services to pay respects and honor him for his community work. Gary Fraser died suddenly and unexpectedly yesterday. He was here with friends from Macclenny each year, Gene, Gerold and Joe to fish. Gary leaves his longtime wife and love Myra and three children with several loving grandchildren. He will be greatly missed in both communities. Our prayers to the Fraser family. Well, it's here..........the night before the last night of this year. Say goodbye to 2010 in many ways...........Frontier, Cactus Jack's and VFW all celebrating the old and new with song, food and friends. Many camps having their own cookouts and gatherings from all around. Here Hewey's camp is in town and also heard the "ho train" will be up and running????? hmmm, never a lack for having a good time around here. Diana (Buckskin) had a birthday on Christmas Eve, she wrote about her family's way of including her "birthday gift" with Christmas. She got to pick out anything under the tree........now that's neat!!! Thanks. Happy Birthday to YOU!!! UH, Billy should be ask what Shawn gave you on Christmas eve, your BD too!!! 12/17/10 ~ It's a bubblin' up eggnog this time of year!!! and manatees!!! BENEFIT FOR TRISH, THE GREATEST SUCCESS!!! Thanks to all for being a part of this effort, would you believe around $10,000. for Trish. What a giving community, just would not want to be anywhere else in the world. Our thoughts and prayers are with you Trish, we love ya!!!! I hear Bob Henry and Bim Ray really put on the entertainment as they were doing the auction and emceeing..........you go guys!!!!! Again, thanks to everyone involved. It's great to see Chris Meffert back in Salt Springs with us. He looks great and is doing just fine. He and Joyce have been here several days and will go back to Tampa for Christmas. Chris will be having radiation but not chemo, that was a prayer answered in itself. Barbara Baby will be having her birthday Sunday at the "v", isn't she just cute??? Another year younger........be there around 5:00. Garland Huffman is the new canteen manager!!!!!! I knew he couldn't stay away from Salt Springs very long, right back where he should be, with all of us!!! Congratulations, Garland, know you'll do a good job. SUNDAY Christmas Party at the "V" from 1-3, bring $10.00 gift that can go either way.........well, you know what I mean. We'll be doing the Chinese exchange!!!! Happy Hour drink prices too. 12/08/10 ~ BBBrrrrrrr............... is it still a bubblin????? Of course, nothing slows down around here!!! Manatees are BACK!! Talked with Joyce and Chris. They are in Tampa and Chris is doing great!! Should be here tonight or tomorrow for a couple of days but will be in and out (here and Tampa) for the next couple of months. Chris will have radiation Jan and Feb. Our thoughts and love to both of them. Congrats to our local Sr. Cougar Cheerleading team out of Ft McCoy Middle School. They have won the Marion County Youth Football League Cheer Leading Competition this year, that makes it 3 years in a row now. Local Salt Springs cheerleaders on the team are Dawn Littleton, Jessica Kelly, Maggie Page, Lacey Risley, Haley Robinson and Courtney Tavares. Look for them in the Ocala Christmas parade on Dec. 11th. The Sr. Cougar Football team also had a fantastic season ending with a 2 game winning streak. Thanks to coaches, Jimmy and Pam Littleton who have been volunteering coaching these young athletes the past 8 years. So sorry that I didn't get the message earlier about Emergency Blood Drive this week BUT there will be another to benefit our Veterans and Shands Hosp. in January. Tune in for that!!! GLORIA AND ROGER ARE BACK, yippee, so good to see them and all that are returning to SS group!!! Loretta came through her back surgery well and is now home recuperating......... slowly and take it SLOW like the doctor said!!! The Childrens' Christmas party will be Dec. 11. Santa is rounding up the reindeer as we speak to be there!!! Pass the word to the kids. Dec. 11 at 11:00, complete with lunch, crafts and PRESENTS........... wahoo!!! The ladies need HELP this year so get on down there and volunteer. This is one of MY favorite activities each year. TOMORROW 1:00 in the Community Park (316) will be Christmas in the Park to kick off the Holiday Season. Food, music, mini parade and SANTA, he's sneaking in this weekend. A day to enjoy. 11/30/10 ~ Yep, bubblin upsidedown this week............ RAIN, finally!!!!! First.........talked with Joyce this morning. Chris came through surgery well at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa. They want everyone to know how much our thoughts and prayers have meant to them........ get well soon Chris and hurry home to Salt Springs!!! We miss you two!!! Hearing all great Thanksgiving stories, now onto Christmas!!! I had good week with my Friends Jack, Gina and Lisa at Gainesville Motorcross Races........ all week. We did get our "turkey" dinner catered in thanks to Red Bull sponsors( Yep, JL and Michelle, Red Bull)..that was a no brainer, sit down and eat and enjoy!!!! Those cuban sandwiches are as popular there as here on Cactus Jack's night........let you know when they do again!!! Oh and I shared my special apple pie with friends, thanks to Dave and Toni!!!! Mmmm, is that stuff ever good???? This weekend will be a FREE Holiday in the Park at 1:00......... food, music, refreshments and SANTA!!! 11/21/10 ~ And it's bubblin again............... I actually see little smiley faces in spring bubbles Can you believe it's Thanksgiving, oh my!!!! This year is bubblin' by us!!! Hope everyone is planning a great day........... I'll be having Thanksgiving cuban sandwich, well there's no written rule you HAVE to eat turkey!!!! Save a turkey, eat a cuban (sandwich) Happy Birthday to our friend Larry and our love and prayers with Margie. She was taken to hosp. yesterday with congestive heart failure. Doing well today........... that's our girl!!! Got to get that wind back to sing................. we love you both, much!!!! ALSO, deer hunters, remember you get free hamburger from Square Meal with each deer checked in. And checked in, hey, don't forget Advantage Sports and Jim is sitting there waiting on ya!! He's been in same location for 16 years, get er registered............ eat that hamburger too. SQUARE MEAL is now serving breakfast all day (2:00)......... so you eat lunch, specials, or grits n eggs anytime!!!! SAT AND SUN breakfast till 11:30. 11/19/10 ~ And it's sure BUBBLIN' this week............ OK OK, now I know how it is to get "out of the loop", just glad it's easy to jump back in!!!! Our love to Loretta who finally had back surgery, now it's time to get better!!! Trish (88 Store) is home and will continue treatments. On Dec. 11, the 88 Store will host a fundraiser for Trish complete with food, music, auction, 50/50 tickets and more. Get in there and help out with this. Can leave auction items at store!!! We love you Trish!!! Our Mustang football team made it to the Conf. Championship. They may have placed 2nd but they are lst to Salt Springs. Caleb Seiler and Josh McBride were chosen for the All Star Team to play in Dec. Other SS players were Branden Carbahal, Shaun Gibbs and Phil Baer. Thanks to Hoss (Coach) for this info......... Great job, guys!!! Great turnout for our local Tea Party, thanks to all who braved the weather, all were inspired by KrisAnne Hall's true story........ sometimes we wonder how the system fails pitifully!!! 11/15/10 ~ OK OK, so I left town but the spring continued to boil............... so I hear!! On another "working" vacation at Disney!!! Worked the "Caddy Shack", remember the movie, for the Childrens' Miracle Network all week with PGA golf. This caddy shack is equipped and moves all over the country. Has dining area, kitchen and slideouts....what an operation!!! Met the caddies and players with families and reps this week!! One of my newfound friends, Robert Garrigus and his caddy, Shoe, won.......... uh, about half million!!! Robert's family came in every day as did Shoe and dad Shoe. Another experience I must say......... but oh, did I also say I had to get up every morning by 4:00 YES that would be AM. Know how it feels to be out of loop............. TONIGHT IS CIVIC ASSOC. MEETING AT 7:00, remember if you have names for Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets, please let the Ladie's Aux and Civic Assoc. know. Thanks to the Men's Aux. for the $200.00 donation to the Honor Flight for me......... you guys are the BEST!!!! Our thoughts and prayers are with Loretta who is having surgery, Trish, home from hospital after chemo, Blondy's brother took a terrible fall. Love to all of you and your families!!!!! Former Florida assistant attorney, KrisAnn Hall, was fired from her job by Jacksonville State Attorney Skip Jarvis for speaking at a tax rally and offering her opinion on the health care reform bill at her local radio station. KrisAnn, a constitutional attorney, wife, and mother of two, dared to question the constitutionality of the presidents health reform bill and paid a steep price. According to Mrs. Hall.... "At the end of January I was asked by the Chairman of the Suwannee REC to help review a Constitutional primer he was to give to voters in Dowling Park, Florida due to my background with a Constitutional Law firm in Seminole, Florida. 11/07/10 ~ BRRRRRR, but not complaining.......... Springs will boil right through winter!!! What a wonderful Prehunt Cookout at Cactus Jack's Sat.................. thanks to Lynn........ her family....... all the ones that worked to make it successful. Bless those bartenders, what patience!!! It was a beautiful day for it and Salt Run did their magic playing music for us. If you weren't there, there is no way to explain the day!!!! It was a good one!!! I'm sure Cactus Jack was smilin' down on this one!!! Life is good to us. Great seeing the Bunnell camp, the Lake Wales group and, of course, Trent and Joann!!! Then we had Carol doing the Karoake at the "v", we enjoy her being with us again!!! Met a new friend, Mike. Hope to see him a lot around the V, he's enjoying his stay in Salt Springs, imagine that?? Marie's retirement party was a great success. Everyone came out to congratulate her and Brent did a fabulous job on the food and preparations!! Nov. 11, Veterans' Day, Salt Springs Village will be dedicating their new flagpole at the entrance. That would be ll/ll at ll:00 am. This night, Thurs., will be meeting and special presentation about Honor Flight at the VFW - 7 PM Nov. 13, Sat., will be a COMMUNITY YARD SALE, all over the place............ Salt Springs Village 8-ll with bake sale, tables set up at Bass Champs, Christian Church and Community Park. Look for signs and maps!!! Of course, Marlene always has a sale going on in the Consignment Shop!!! Ladies' Auxillary is now taking applications for Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets. 11/04/10 ~ As the spring boils, changes are in the air and it's raining, oh yes!! Listen up................. The Fall Festival at Bass Champions will be changing dates. They will advise a later date. NO festival this weekend at Bass Champs BUT Prehunt Cookout at Cactus Jack's will be the big friends gathering and food food food. Appetizers on at noon............ big food later around 2:00. Salt Run will be entertaining us and they do a fine job of THAT. Thanks to Lynn for all this, it will be great day. THIS SAT, the 6th!!! Brent is giving Marie a BIG retirement party 4-8 at Village Clubhouse, don't forget, just get there and bring only your little selves Brent says!!! SAT 6th Wilderness Restaurant will begin AUCE Spaghetti dinners on MONDAY nights, OK OK I corrected that!! There will be a HUGE Salt Springs Community Wide Yard Sale on Nov. 13. He visited with salt springs last Friday night........ a man of character, a working man and someone who would represent us well in washington unlike corrine brown, who has served all the time she needs to pad her bank account and that of her family. look it up. yes, it would be a good change, give him a chance Amendments............. well, I'm putting it together as I question and listen and here's what I have NO NO NO on Amendment 4, 5, 6 and 8.... yes yes yes on Amendment 1 and 2. Zalak had a lot of good things to say. Of course, it's everyone's God given right to select and vote, that's why our Country is the Greatest. It would be a wonderful thing for Salt Springs to make their mark in this election and it can be done. I remember the Salt Springs votes were the very ones that upseated the last Co. Comm. who made demeaning remarks about us, ha!!! I am a registered Democrat but can assure you my ticket won't reflect it this time, nor last time!!! 10/31/10 ~ OUR HEARTFELT LOVE AND PRAYERS ARE WITH PHIL AND LYNN. THEIR MOM PASSED AWAY YESTERDAY MORNING WITH HOSPICE CARE IN OCALA. ARRANGEMENTS WILL BE MADE AT A LATER DATE. HER WISHES WERE TO RETURN TO LAKE WALES AND A SERVICE WILL BE THERE. ANY MORE INFORMATION, I WILL SEND OUT. WE LOVE YOU BOTH!!!!!!

10/27/10 ~ And is it ever boilin'............... 90 degrees??? What's up with fall???? Our thoughts and prayers are with Lynn and Phil's family as their mom remains critical in the hospital. We are thinking of your family at this time. So much exciting news!!! Wayne and Joann Crawford and I leave in the morning as escorts with World War II veterans. We will fly to Washington, DC for them to view the World War II memorial that was completed in 2004. It will be an all day and I'm sure quite emotional trip!! Honor Flight with VFW sponsors this in Ocala. There will be 102 WWII Veterans on board. The trip each year is sponsored by different organizations and individuals through donations only. How rewarding can this be?? We will certainly report back. Mr. Harrison, 82, called to see if I wanted to ride with him to airport............... don't think he realizes where we are. Think I'd better just meet him at airport, that was too cute though!!! If you haven't tried the car detailing, get down there. He's located in parking lot of Square Meal, the RV. Reasonable and very very good!!!! We have new business in town ALL IN ONE PEST CONTROL, Lawn spraying, landscaping, Real Estate inspection.......... Well, my Durango is having surgery on the big booboo that no one can actually figure out.......... do you believe in aliens??? hmmm!!! The First Baptist Church is sponsoring Judgement House Fri. 29th and Sat. 30th 6:30 til 10:00 and on Sun. 31 2:00-6:00. Several locals will be involved........... Joe, Joannie, Shan, John P and more!!! It takes about an hour to go through and there will be snacks for your enjoyment. FRIDAY NIGHT TEA PARTY 6:30 at the VFW Stage, under the lights so bring your chair and get comfy!!! Mike Yost (running against Corrine Brown, yes) will be there. I know Zalak and King for Co. Commissioner are planning to attend. Great time to ask questions before the election on Tues. So far the concensus I'm hearing is questionable on 1, help me out, YES on 2.... NO on 4....... YES on 5 and 6 and NO on 8!!!! YES on Balancing the Federal Budget. As I say, this is what I'm hearing and discussing with different factions!!! Her mom is not doing well and remains in hospital. We are thinking of you Lynn, let us know if there's anything we can do for you. SS Prayers to Indiana for Gloria (Roger). Her son had a kidney removed and is fighting cancer. We are so sorry, things will get better so you can return to us!!! AND Happy Birthday Roger.....w e miss you both!!! Ah, my favorite!! 10/15/10 ~ Ooh yeah, cooler weather but the springs is still a boilin' OK OK, got me again................ this weekend will be Night Shift at Cactus Jack's, yep good ole rock n roll. Last night, Karaoke night was packed with singing or trying to sing (that's me), pool playing, darts and special Cactus Jack drinks. Good Job, Cactus Lynn!!!!! Terry called from "The Wilderness Restaurant" located IN the Frontier. They have got some great specials goin' on there. Tonight AUCE Catfish!!! Mondays AUCE Shrimp!!!! They have quite a menu goin' on out there........... bunches of appetizers too. OPEN Every day (except Weds) from 11:00-9:00. 10/14/10 ~ Yep, them up north people are just bubblin' in............. so glad to see each and every one!!! Our heartfelt sympathy to Wayne Crawford and family. His daughter passed away. We are all so so sorry to hear this. Prayers and thoughts to Cactus Lynn's mom who is back in hospital and to Dorothy's mom that had an emergency visit to hospital this week. You ladies, we are thinking of you............. GET YOURSELVES WELL!!!! Hey, it was a Dave / Toni apple pie delight sighting!!! Welcome home!! And Don made it back to attend tonight's TEA PARTY!!! TONIGHT..................... TEA PARTY AT THE CIVIC ASSOCIATION BLDG. on 316 by Sheriff's substation and park. 6:30......... think this is going to be interesting, we hear about them but wow, to get to attend one. 10/08/10 ~ I know everyone is holdin' down the fort in my absence!!! Bubble on, Friends!!! Our hearts are broken for Joannie Massey. Her only sister, Joyce, died unexpectedly during surgery Monday. Send the Salt Springs prayers and thoughts............... we love you Joannie!!! Bob and Joan Howell have been fishin' the Outer Banks and now on their way back to Shan-gri-la........... well, Salt Springs. They'll be here by the 11th. OH boy, come on down, gonna try to beat YOU to all the fun spots!!!! Have to leave early to get ahead of you two. SUNDAY AT THE VFW............... Open Jam honoring the Veterans from Retirement Home. Get out your instrument and get down there!!!! 2:00!!! The Honor Flight out of Knoxville, Tenn. is also planned for the World War II Vets, I am excited to be involved in the one from Ocala on October 28!!! There's not enough we can do for our veterans!!! 10/05/10 ~ And Yep, it's a bubblin' brew this week!!!! This is the greatest of all on the Spring Boils.......... this week we received an email from Kuwait, oh yeah, that's right, they want to keep up with Salt Springs!!! Ryan Morrill (Rick and Cathy's son in law) is on his way to Iraq but wants us to know he appreciates the "news" from our way!!! You go, Ryan............. our hero!!! Joan and Ken are just wishing they were on the way with Sandy and Bob BUT they will be here by December. Weather report from Minnesota........ FROST!!! And that's why we are not there!!! TEA PARTY comin' right along. It will be Thurs. 14th at 6:30 at the Civic Asso. Bldg. on 316. Be there!! There are people driving a long way for this, like Don Whitwood!!!! Come on down.......... we'll be there. Enjoyed my Sunday working with Jack and Gina makin' them Cuban Sandwiches, yum yum. They will be doing cubans at Cactus Jack's this Thurs, that would be the 7th.......... you can sing with Carol and Eat too. Went by my favorite pharmacy, Grandmas, in Ft. McCoy and lo and behold, right there on the curb were nurses doing blood pressure, sugar, and heart rates and and.......... uh I forgot something else for free, sure it wasn't testing memory though. They were great......... they are with Home Health Care and will come to Salt Springs any time you need them. Whatever we can do to support this we should!!! Every 3 minutes someone is diagnosed with breast cancer........... there are 2 1/2 million survivors!!! Early diagnosis is a key factor!!! I have signed up to help with the Honor Flight out of Ocala. This is such an interesting endeavor!!! They are taking World War II vets to Washington to view the World War II memorial that was completed in 2004. Wow................ I love to be involved with this to honor my dad, who was a World War II vet and to represent our VFW here in SS!!! Have been signed up as an escort........ what an honor that would be!!! Our thoughts and prayers are with Alice Drake's family and hoping for the recovery of her son. He was involved in a motorcycle accident and remains in critical condition. His grandmother, Louise, also lives in SS. What a beautiful week around here, little cooler but sun still shinin' on us!!! Southern Rukus returns to Frontier this weekend. Guess this is the Fish Fry weekend for VFW and Cactus Lynn always has fun and drink specials planned at Cactus Jack's. Mom and I will be motorin' north to the mountains this week.............. already had snow on Mt. LeConte around Gatlinburg!!! Can't wait to see that!!! Gwynn and family going to visit Elvis......... well, maybe Memphis!!! Joann gettin' ready to go to see mom in PA and Bob and Bobbie going up to mountains too!!! I met some of you on Boils that know Scallan, the crawfish man from Macclenny, well, go to Branch and Dean, youtube or facebook and listen to his son's newly cut record in Nashville. Both guys are from Macclenny and former students, see I did something but it wasn't teaching them to sing..... maybe just teaching words!!! Listen up for "Your Ol' Ladys Gone". Commissioner Fitos was at our Civic Assoc., hope you got to talk to her. She's been a great support to Salt Springs. John R. wrote to say "cancer free" he is!!! My nose, the bandage and I are taking a rest at home, not a rest that I would like but sometimes you just have to do it. If it were only Halloween I could go out either as Egor or a mummy but NOT!! Wants to keep up with US, well we want to keep up with HIM!!! Joanne Crawford has a daughter in Afghanistan!!!! Thanks to both of you for all you do!!!! Today in Gainesville the local East Marion Mustang football team will be playing Hastings. We have three local boys on the team......... Caleb Seiler, Josh McBride and Chris Gibson. Heard Caleb threw FOUR TD passes last game. There will be a fundraiser on Oct. 10 in Eureka for them. Slabs of ribs $17.00, chicken $7.00 at Civic Bldg. Dorothy at Frontier made TWO perfect scores Wii Bowling (and I can't get ONE). Also restaurant, Wilderness, to open under Terry and Bruce Squires. 09/15/10 ~ Bubble bubble, shrimpin' n crabbin', time to get out there!!! First of all, our thanks to the Civic Association for the September Festival last Sunday. What a great job they did....... something for everyone!!! We talk about our talented people in Salt Springs!!! Have you ever ordered a homemade decorated cake from Jackie Doss at the "V". Oh my, what a treat........ you name the flavor, you name the decor and SHE can do it. 685-8607 Then we have Shirley Poock from Braxton's!!! She does handmade memory quilts. I just picked up six for a friend, what a story it tells of that person's life with all the squares with their clothes. WOW!!! What talent, well, she did a Harley cover recently from Crown Royal bottle covers!!! Most anything can be done right here!! Loretta, miss you at the "v". Hope you are feeling better!!! Rosie, you are doing a FANTASTIC JOB in the canteen, thank you!!! Kay, miss you too but hear you are busy with grandkids now in NC!!! And Chrissy/Norm, where r u?? Still in Nova Scotia, looking forward to seeing all our northern friends return soon. Vic and Don will be visiting their place in Village soon from Japan!!! The Village People keep up around here, they are everywhere, always glad to see them!!! This weekend, Shane will be here for her birthday at Cactus Jack's around 2:00ish and GATORMAN, YEP, that would be the one getting married. I must get right time on that at Cactus Jack's also. Bill Motes riding along, as he does you know, saw a huge diamondback rattler off 88, he fought the snake and HE WON but not without some real scares....... good thing he carries around 15 crowbars, sledgehammers, and a machete!!! We are talking HUGE snake, sure would not want to meet up with while in the woods! Like 5 1/2 ft. and so thick around, yeeuch!! Angela and the Porky's crew called. They do Wii Bowling on Weds. too. Seems Trish beat Gino to the 600 club!!! He's not far behind. 600, means you get perfect score back to back. pfff, I'm not even at 300!!! Tonight, back to Frontier for chickin and playin!!! Playin' the tunes, Bo and Rob on stage while we Wii bowl. This is a great night, come on out!! Bo's band UNTAMED SPIRIT will be at the Frontier this weekend, that's worth the ride to listen to. Don't forget Poker Night Tomorrow night at Jack's and this weekend Night Shift coming back. Rhonda, Diann's daughter, is about to make her a grandma!!! Oh my, is she excited??? 09/10/10 ~ Looks like another Salt Springs weekend bubblin' in As if life couldn't be better, it does!!! What a lineup for the weekend!!! Mmm as Zac Brown (or Bo and Rob) would say "Life is Good"!!!! Bo Griner and Rob on keyboard are awesome on Weds. nights. Sometimes we don't just stop to "smell the roses", well, or listen to the tunes!!!!! Thank you, guys!!! Girls Night Out at Palatka Moose Lodge......... my goodness, have ya been there??? It's huge!!! Met up with our Palatka buddies Cheryl and Jim, Anna and Jerry as well as some Macclenny friends. All will be out this way Saturday night, that would be tomorrow, at the FRONTIER for "mama's" 88th birthday, yes, mama Thomas will be there and guess who else Dana??? Sally, got cha!! Southern Rukus tonight and tomorrow night, FRONTIER, gonna be a rockin' good time. Thanks to Cactus Lynn for giving Gary and Mary a happy farewell to friends. Moving from here, what are they thinking??? We'll see them back often. Cactus Jack's has NIGHT SHIFT for the weekend, and of course, FRED!!! Now there's a reason to just go in and have fun!!! 09/07/10 ~ It was bubblin' people and boats this weekend!!! wahoo Hope all had a wonderful Labor Day Weekend. I had the pleasure of my newfound friends........ Chaaron, great meal, Rich, more bears sightings, Mike fantastic on the grill, Juanita, yep, we're on our way to Mexico!!!! Sherm, you were a surprise!! Hey Nan, good girl, you didn't have to cook this time!!! It was like the 12 eyes plus 40 party. Leann/JD missed ya!!! Go Gators, barely, what was that??? Well, we won and no, Jim I don't want to hear about FSU!!!!! Cactus Lynn packed em in Sat. for the end of summer cookout and again Monday night for Wii Bowling and FOOD!!! We are always glad to see our local talented good lookin' guys strummin' with SALT RUN. Tonight Pool Tournament............ Jerry? Gerald?? Dwightman?? Who will it be??? 09/03/10 ~ And it is brewing up for this Holiday weekend, glad to see all the folks in our little town. Lots going on for Labor Day weekend....... looks like a GREAT ONE!!! Sugar Bear is at Jack's Fri. and Sat. SAT PARTY, Salt Run will be strummin tunes 1-3 and Cactus Lynn will be fryin' up some fish. Get by there!!!! Frontier has the Jordan King Experience, SAT special singin' with Adina, always an experience with this group!!! Steak Dinner weekend at VFW............ don't forget Karoake with Ed on Tues, and Billy on Sat. (see I didn't forget) Smile guys. Susie wrote to let us know we have a proud Marine leaving the 18th, our own Salt Springs Meredith Taafe. You go girl!!! Well, on the road again......... think Willie wrote that for me!!!!! 08/31/10 ~ Bubblin' up for one fun Labor Day weekend!!!!! What a fantastic party Grayson gave his mom, Alice. She had a laughin', dancin' great day with surprise family members. Little Gray flew in from Hawaii......... they had us all in happy tears over this one. She's one peppy chick at 90!!!! Well, no need to say but IT'S TACO TUESDAY, OK, so you knew. Ah, how about chicken wing Weds. now!!! Something new at the "V", don't we love them??? This weekend is just jam packed with fun!!! Sugar Bear back at Jack's. Labor Day PARTY and FISH FRY....... 2:00 SAT. 4th. Our faves, the good lookin' Salt Run will be strumming the bluegrass tunes for the afternoon, yee ha!!! Cactus Lynn has some great new drinks and really some good specials goin' on. Get on down there!!! Tomorrow night will be a real treat, the "Custers" are going to be at the Frontier!!! Bo and Rob singin' and playin'................... eatin' chicken and Wii bowlin', whew, what a place!!!! This weekend will be the Jordan King Experience, that's Jordy to us!!!! On Sept. 9th, getting a group to go to Palatka to the Moose......... seems the Macclenny Moose is coming down to sing and have fun with Palatka, I mean if it sounds fun, and it does, then WE should be there. Girls we may get the limo out!!! PETITION at the Pit Stop (gas station) to have bank branch included in business. Guess they need to know how many of us need money??? Advance tickets are being sold for chicken dinner, fixins' and music on Sept 12. BASS CHAMPS, money for Civic Association ONLY $6.00!! What a deal!!! Music 3-4:30. This is helping our entire community and we get to EAT again!!! There is a concern about horses that have been let loose in the forest. Good Morning Friends! There is an effort going on the retrieve horses that have been turned loose in the Forest. If you have seen them or know of their general location please send an email to Sheila1854@aol.com. As you know, horses cannot survive in the forest for very long. So if you have any information let me know or you may call The Horse Rescue Service at 352-466-4366. Thanks. This is going to take a big effort to locate them all and get help for them. Jesse is still being held hostage in the hospital, but I'm sure he's got the nurses smilin'................. 08/27/10 ~ Yep, it's a bubblin brew!!!!! and I hear the fishin' is easy!!!! Great news, Cactus Lynn's mom is home from hospital. Hope you feel better n better every day. Great night at Cactus Jack's last night with Jack and Gina doing their thing.......... CUBAN SANDWICHES. Thanks, you guys, everyone loves it!!!!!!! Tonight TNT will be playing the tunes at Jack's. VFW has those juicy hamburgers cookin' and tomorrow fish dinners!! Tonight Wii Bowling and BINGO, maybe I'd do better with BINGO.......... Great fried chicks at Frontier with Bo and Rob singin' the tunes for us. This weekend Bo and Untamed Spirit will be on stage for your entertainment, and they are!!!!! Our friend, Rich, came in for the night, his first time and I'll bet he will be back. How could anyone not love all of us???? OK OK, don't ask!! Did ya know there are 1500 registered voters in Salt Springs area AND did you vote??? Gotta get some of them OUT of there, ya know??? Today at Gym Joann and I met Karen, our very own massage therapist right here at the gym. This gym is awesome, by the way!!!! Jesse stayed in the rehab facility where they worked out his meds and treatment, he'd love to hear from you. MMMmmm The Macclenny boys were back in town, Gene and Paul, catching those fish. Love staying in cabin behind Bass Champs!!! If you haven't seen these you'd better get over there, anything scentsy has to be good!!!! It's great to have so many wonderful people and businesses right here in downtown Salt Springs....... we have it all and aren't we lucky???? Hope to see everyone out and about. 08/24/10 ~ This week it's really bubblin', so much to do, so little time............. keep up!!! What a weekend........... group went to Daytona Beach to hear our own Girlz n Guitarz play at Boot Hill Saloon, uh yes Lavonne that would be a biker bar, next time you may have to wear chaps!!! heh, heh Went to Lake Griffin over the weekend and met new friends, wow, imagine that I would do something like that??? Anyway, met Nan who could actually have her own reality show.......... she's like a whirlwind, got it ALL together. For someone that's stays as confused as I do, THAT was impressive!!! Jesse moved back to hospital BUT that's a good thing, worked out well for him with change in meds and insurance!!! Good for you, Jesse, miss ya!!! Say "happy birthday" to Marlin. Had "surprise" party at Frontier and then on down to Cactus Jack's.... think he was 37??? I never was good at math, ya know!! Always remember, if you are missin' out on "Spring Boils", let me know. 07/20/10 ~ Yep, and it is a boilin'.................. little rain would be nice!!! Great Salt Springs weekend, as usual!! Now aren't we just the lucky ones to be here??? Our Congratulations to Jack and Paulina, that would be Mr. and Mrs. now!!! Had a wonderful time toasting their happiness at Cactus Jack's and Lynn had it all prettied up for them!!!! Many of us motored down to Inverness Raceway to watch Jared Snowden..... JL and Michelle's son (Bass Champs) WOW, what fun watching those speedy cars on that track!! Jared had his own SS cheering section while he was racin' around his new car!!!! Go Jared, Go No. 4!!! He's good!!! This SUNDAY JL and Michelle are hosting their second annual Customer Appreciation Day and Kids' Fishin' Tournament!!! Buck n Bass helping out with kids fishin". Kids grab your poles and get down there at 11:00 til 2:00........... prizes, prizes!!! BIG water slide will be there, bands in the afternoon (bring chairs people) and FOOD for all us, yum yum!!!! Come on down and enjoy......... thank you JL and Michelle Whoa, did you see where Salt Springs Campground was rated in the TOP 100 family campgrounds in America!!! Way to go SS!!! OH OH, the biggest news SUBWAY IS OPEN!!! Yes and it is ever so good!!! Pretty soon a bank branch, hey, gas, food, drink and money ALL at the same place, cool beans I say!! Last night was the most delicious food at Frontier, homemade veggie casseroles, desserts with Dorothy's famous friend chicken. Sat around to eat and play cards!!! While there Robin got a call that her son was in an accident with his wife and 3 month old baby. Send prayers and thoughts for their recovery. Get ready for July 18 Kids' Fishin' Tournament and appreciation day of fun at Bass Champions!!! Oh Jared running at Inverness Track this weekend.............. go Jared!!! Shirley (at gro. store) is working on more "memory quilts". These quilts are beautiful and such a memorial to that someone in our life we love and miss but can hold onto a part of them with these!!!! Cora does the embroidery for the center square. Have to see to believe!!! Kay's getting ready to leave and vacation in the mountains with family and on up north for a couple of weeks. Have a GREAT time!!! Last we heard, Dave the Hat, was in Wisconsin, still rolling around!!!!! Pizza tonight at the "v", hamburgers on Fri. and yum yum steak dinners for Saturday!!! 07/02/10 ~ Bubblin' RED, WHITE, AND BLUE ...all through Salt Springs! WOW, LOTS-n-LOTS OF INFO FOR THE WEEKEND AND UPCOMING TIMES TOO!!! Jesse is HOME, yes at his place right here in Salt Springs Village and doing well, of course we knew he would. Has a lot of recoup time and healing ahead but everything went well and he's on top of the world again, like he stays!! Great going Jesse. It was a really invasive, large incision, serious surgery and he will be at home tending to himself for a while. Let him know ya love 'em!!! Still sending those prayers for complete recovery too and we will see him dancing again. Joanne Crawford from the "v" has a grandaughter in Afghanistan. The Ladie's Aux. has been so good to gather and send things over to our troops, the guys and gals we adore and honor. Joanne asked what we could do for her and members of her squadron........... guess what, simple!!! LETTERS, POSTCARDS, MAIL, CARDS............. Some messages from US!!! Read letter below from Ladie's.................. YOU ARE THE BEST!!! The Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW Post 10208 in Salt Springs has been supplying goodies and needed supplies to troops in Afghanistan this past year. We now have a second member with a grandchild over there and her platoon is requesting letters from home. Many troops do not have family at home or for other reasons no contact from home. Many just want to hear what is going on in your life - and life back home here in the states - and most importantly they would like to hear and know they have our support. We are asking everyone to take a few minutes and sit down and write a letter to a troop. Letters can be dropped off at the Post and we will mail them in bulk to Afghanistan. And speaking of the BEST, WOW, the VFW is taking on new look per Rosie, tables moved around OH NO, whatever will we do finding our assigned seats NOW!!! Hey, she'll find it for us and it really looks good. Had great party for Glenda on Monday and YOU did it again, kept the SURPRISE!!!! She'll still be with us on the FUN SIDE!!!!! Wayne, our new Commander, took notice of our Wii bowling skills, ha, not mine!!! Anyway, now the "v" has a Wii, hmm that rhymes, bet Joe could put some words to that!!! Last night with Pizza everyone took advantage of some extra playing time!!! FIREWORKS IN SS, OH YES, THERE WILL BE!!!! FIRESWORKS ON SAT ON LAKE KERR, BIG AND LITTLE LAKE KERR. ELITE WILL ALSO BE SETTING THEIRS OFF. THEY HAVE ALL KINDS OF THINGS GOING ON IN THERE. THE "REC CLUB GANG" HAS PUT TOGETHER QUITE A BANG FOR ALL THREE DAYS!! DON'T MISS IT!! They "flew" a 90 yr. old retired woman pilot, yes, woman on the ride of her life!!! Joanne and Loretta put it together for her when she couldn't make it to Washington to receive a Congressional Gold Medal for her duties as a WASP during World War II...she just wanted to "fly" again and they did it!!! Mary Gates and Jaye Beeler also were there to watch!!! Why in the world, 90 yrs. ago, would a woman become a pilot??? "It was war, and it was our country.......... every woman got busy to see what she could do".......... banners and kudos to Marguerite Bernhardt from Ocala. OK OK, so much to do is such little time........... get out there and do something. Be aware of warm water temps and shallow places with children, being advised by Health Dept. to use earplugs and not putting heads under water in those conditions!!!
